The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Exam
From January 2009 candidates for The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Fellowship examination will be able to undertake the exam in a sequential way over time. All candidates will undertake the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and then, on successful completion, will be able to move on to the Clinical segment as they feel ready. Candidates will continue to have the opportunity to sit the AKT and Key Feature Problems (KFP) on the same day if they wish and if they meet KFP eligibility requirements.

Gen Yers believe layoffs likely
Nearly one third of Gen Yers believe that their employers will lay off staff because of the downturn in the economy according to a survey of 2,700 people by Talent2, Australia’s leading human resource firm. However, this viewpoint is not as pessimistic as that of the general population with almost half of respondents saying they expect substantial downsizing in the coming months.

Graduates prefer responsibility rather than a big pay cheque
When looking for their first full-time job, Australian tertiary students would prefer roles with responsibility over positions that offer a good starting salary. Google Inc. was found to be a graduate's employer of choice in a separate poll of 3303 graduates. Macquarie Bank and Microsoft were second and third respectively.
