America: A Tribute To Heroes

America: A Tribute To Heroes Times of calamitous events and tragedy seem to bring out the best in our fellow human beings and ourselves. The human spirit prevails.

On September 21st, just ten days after the horror of September 11, the international entertainment community came together for an unprecedented two-hour live broadcast to help the USA and the entire world heal through the power of music.

Recorded on soundstages in Los Angeles, New York and London, America: A Tribute To Heroes included performances by Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Wyclef Jean, Eddie Vedder, Celine Dion, Neil Young, U2 and Limp Bizkit, just to name a few.

Amazingly, the whole event was pulled together in less than a week with major television and cable networks world-wide donating their airtime to screen the historic coming together of the worlds finest entertainers. The performances were both devastating and uplifting, reminding viewers of the massive loss of life as well as the invincibility of the human spirit.

The show was aired on 30 networks around the world, a massed viewer ship of over 89 million global viewers, and raised more than 150 million dollars.

All net proceeds from the sale of the double CD set are being paid to the United Way's September 11th Fund.

The 48 Star Flag on the cover of the album was painted by Jasper Johns between 1954 and 1956 and it comes courtesy of MOMA, New York.

Now capture the spirit of that night and help America persevere through the tragic events of our time.
