Boomla Review
Boomla
Boomla mixes a smooth combination of funk and soul woven with groove
creating music that makes you move. One word to describe Boomla’s music
is phenomenal. In wisdom, this music has taken away from the modern beat
and created a new exciting combination that Boomla is being rewarded by
with sell-out gigs.
Boomla is made up of two artists, both from Melbourne, Ben (sax,
clarinet and percussion) and Syrene (lead vocals) who take the stage
with an eight piece band as well as dancers and costumes that covers the
audience with a blanket of awe, releasing their art, Ben and Syrene,
send all listening on a floating dance.
Boomla worked with a twelve piece band for their album ‘From Brasil to
Cyrene’ which is soon to be released, containing the track Brain.
Brain is set somewhere between the real-floor and the surreal. You are
able to move and be encapsulated in a scene of light, moves and
challengingly different music that delights the ears for an entire
songs.
The name Boomla apparently comes from ‘Boom’ being the sound of a drum
and ‘la’ the sound of voice, that stunning and
earth-shatteringly-wonderful voice that gives the instrumental soul, is
Syrene. Syrene who needs to be distinguished for her soothing voice is
the head vocalist for Boomla and her sensational onstage presence
brightens a room, along with bright costumes and wonderfully produced
harmonising music. We have Ben to thank for that music.
Ben provides the harmonising music that is evident in Boomla recordings,
it is clear that Ben was born to play music to us; he supplies the
magnificent instrumentals rewarding Syrene’s voice. Ben’s rhythm is the
reason you want to feel the melody and can’t help but sway in unison.
Although delightfully different from the mainstream, Boomla’s tracks are
already being mixed by well-known internationally DJ’s, Kosheen remixed
Mozart Would and John Course and Mr. Timothy who remixed Lone Rider.
Soon you’ll find Boomla following you, through DJ’s, to your favourite
dance locations.
Find one person that doesn’t move whilst listening to these beats and
I’ll be impressed. Seriously watch out for Boomla! The only advice that
I can provide to you is, to catch on before everybody else does, or
you’ll be left behind, way behind…
