Interview with Clara Harrison

Clara Harrison is an inspiring actress who is attending the Hollywood Immersive workshop in the United States with Lilly Dawson and Margie Haber. You may have seen Clara's face on commercials for Foxtel, Maggi, KFC, MTV and she stars in Angus and Julia Stone video clips.

What inspired you to begin training in the acting industry?

Clara Harrison: Once I realised how much I loved acting I couldn't wait to get into things such as theatre groups and acting classes. My cousins Angus and Julia Stone who are locals and are making it in the music industry and it shows that if you put in everything you've got in, which I know they have, you have a chance of making it.


How long have you wanted to act for?

Clara Harrison: Since I was little, I guess.


What tips do you have for others wanting to get into the acting industry?

Clara Harrison: I have a lot of friends who want to get into acting and I've told them to do some drama lessons and search for an agent and then see what happens.


What do you enjoy most about acting?

Clara Harrison: I think it's a lot of fun that for once you don't have to be yourself and you can be anyone you want to be.


What acting have you done previously?

Clara Harrison: I have been involved in many theatre groups. Also commercials- Foxtel Multi-room, KFC, New Zealand Breast Cancer, NRL, MTV. I have also starred in a few video clips for Angus and Julia Stone. I am also the face of Maggi noodles.


Do you prefer performing on stage or in front of the camera?

Clara Harrison: I enjoy both, I couldn't decide.



What roles do you prefer to perform?

Clara Harrison: I wouldn't say I had roles I'd prefer to play because I think it's fun having to see what you can do with what you're dealt.


Do you have any pre-conceived ideas about the acting industry?

Clara Harrison: I think it is an industry that is exciting but like many things it can be critical on you and you have to not get pushed down by criticism, instead take it with a pinch of salt or use it to benefit you.


What actress/actors do you prefer to watch?

Clara Harrison: I enjoy watching young actors and actresses around my age as I like seeing how they play the role. I love watching Dakota Fanning. Although, it is amazing to watch older people who are so experienced, such as Toni Collette.


If you could act beside any actor or actress, who would you choose?

Clara Harrison: Johnny Depp


What has been your biggest challenge in regards to acting?

Clara Harrison: Trying to make it into the industry and get auditions to get me there.


What is a typical day like for you?

Clara Harrison: Go to school, then hang out with friends in Avalon after school or go to a dance or drama class. Then I go home and chill.

What's next for you?

Clara Harrison: To audition for roles in films.


Can you tell us 5 things required for a happy, healthy and enjoyable life?

Clara Harrison: Friends, family, hobbies, a good diet and exercise.
