Interview with LeeLee

Question: How would you describe the latest single, Mexico?

LeeLee: Mexico is my favoruite song that Dirty Laundry has done so far. Basically my best friend and I wrote it, she's in LA, and it's about having that love that you keep running into, never stop thinking about and you want them because nobody else stands out like them; you want them to whisk you away to Mexico, where it all began.

Question: Why did you guys title the track, Mexico?

LeeLee: I am obsessed with Mexico to start with, I even had a recent boyfriend called Mex (laughing) it's his song… My whole house used to be done completely Mexican-style and I'd never been there. I've always loved everything about Mexico!

Question: How do audiences react when you perform Mexico?

LeeLee: That's why I look forward to the end of our set because Mexico is always at the end of our set and everyone is screaming! I'm surprised everyone already knows it! We normally perform the Andy Murphy version live because that works well; it is my favourite part!

Question: Can you talk about the experience of performing at Future Music Festival?

LeeLee: We performed at the Sydney and Brisbane Future Music Festival! Brisbane was a complete mud-fest which was hilarious and the crowd was still going off, embracing the mud. I met Dizzle Rascal at Sydney and he told me he liked my get-up, my outfit totally paid for itself! I also met the band Zoe, they are great. I love festivals and meeting other artists, it's like being at a big high school prom, or something!

Question: What has Dirty Laundry been up to, recently?

LeeLee: We are releasing the EP with Mexico on it and we are working with Dennis Dowlut who is from Electric Empire and we are really excited to have him on board because he is a music genius! Dirty Laundry is still doing gigs everywhere and we performed at the Melbourne Grand Prix which had a great vibe; we had Chuck Bass side-of-stage watching us perform Mexico, which was exciting.

Question: Have you had much time to relax? Last time we spoke with Dirty Laundry you were so busy!

LeeLee: I have moved back to Melbourne, from the Gold Coast because I want to start writing again and most of the people I write with are all living in Melbourne. I am almost relaxing now, working on new ideas, sparking ideas and being inspired again whilst living life!
