Interview with Drop the Lime
What is the difference between Drop the Lime and your pseudonym Curses!?
Luca Venezia: Curses! was/is a side project mire concentrated in straight up jaxkin house music... it's in hibernation now while I focus on a worldwide bass invasion.
Can you tell us a little bit about your dance label Trouble and Bass?
Luca Venezia: We started as a party in sweaty Brooklyn basement venues and progressed into a DJ crew of four (AC Slater, Star Eyes, The Captain, and myself). We allproduce and had a hard time finding labels that understood our sound, so eventually the brand became a label and a lifestyle.
How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?
Luca Venezia: Like golden waves of ecstatic bliss galloping off to a soaring flight into the midnight's mist.
Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
Luca Venezia: I thought that record sales could still buy you cars and houses.
What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?
Luca Venezia: I rarely listen to club music outside of the club - So right now I enjoy m83, Beach House, Carribou, Suicide, Tom Waits, Ennio Morricone and Stars of the Lid.
What's next? Tour/Album/Single?
Luca Venezia: I'm on a massive three month worldwide tour right now in support of my new single Sex Sax. In Australia I'm supporting My Devils Eyes release on onelove. The album is 99% done and will be released in October.
Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
Luca Venezia: Absolutely never. I have had the urge to do this since I was seven years old and wanted to be Elvis and Ritchie Valens.
What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Luca Venezia: I had the hunger to be on stage at a very young age. It ranges from Elvis to Axel rose to Thurston Moore to Wu Tang Clan.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
Luca Venezia: The 24 hour work schedule. If music means the world to you, there are definitely some sacrifices you must make like embracing and conquering the jet lag. I don't get jet lag anymore, but I barely sleep either.
What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?
Luca Venezia: Travelling. Meeting new people and experiencing the different cultures, tasting the food! And making people dance and escape with music for a night.
If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Luca Venezia: Phillip Glass or Brian Eno.

Luca Venezia: I am single. I am extremely careful though, because my lifestyle isn't normal to most girls. I tend to gravitate towards woman that are independent, are passionate about their work and who love traveling.
