Dylan Wright

Dylan Wright

Dylan Wright won PORTfest, an event run from Port Hacking High School in Miranda, NSW. PORTfest intends to showcase the students of the performing arts school. Quarterpipe Records offers a recording and mixing session for the winner of the Singing Competition.

Dylan Wright won the competition and has recorded four tracks, Gone To Rio, Lazy Afternoons, Nobody Knows and Political Minds, are now available from www.quarterpiperecords.com. Dylan has outstanding talent and nailed his guitar recordings in the first take, whilst in the studio.

Gone To Rio is a classic, soulful and easily absorbed song. Dylan has an amazingly mature and natural voice for a 16 year old. His guitar provides a soothing background to his romantic lyrics. Dylan is capable of covering the genres as Lazy Afternoons is a soft rock track that will have your foot tapping and provides a new meaning to lazy afternoons. Once again, after listening to Nobody Knows, I cannot believe Dylan is only 16. His vocals are delivered remarkably; this poppy rock song is extremely expressive.

My favourite track is the slower song, Political Minds. Dylan poses the question "who is going to clean our dirty planet?" The song is convincing and rhythmical. You are sure to be singing along and thinking about the earths future with Political Minds. Hopefully you will be implementing the actions of "reduce, reuse and recycle" for earth's survival too.

Dylan is known in the local area of Gymea as he donates the money he earns from busking to charity.

Dylan Wright: Scary, I didn't know what to expect but it was fun, seeing what goes on behind a TV show is a good experience.

Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?

Dylan Wright: Yes, I have done so since I got my first guitar which was when I was 11, they are horrible, but at the time I thought they were the greatest songs ever written, over the years I think they have become better sounding and more structured.
