Janet Jackson and Bruno Schiavi, Pleasure Principle
Singer. songwriter, actress, record producer and now designer – Janet Jackson teams up with Australian fashion designer Bruno Schiavi to launch Pleasure Principle.
On the eve of her World Tour with the Discipline album Janet Jackson is adding designer to her impressive list of talents with the launch of her fashion partnership with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi. Pleasure Principle will be Janet and Schiavi’s first US lingerie collection with plans to have product in stores as early as November 2008 across America, with Australia, Japan and Europe to follow.
“The collection has been carefully created with some of the finest laces from around the world. You will see a lot of satin and lace combined and rich colors such as burgundy and beige, silver and peach as well as your classic black and white. It makes you feel incredible and offers variety as diverse as the women who will wear it,” Janet reveals.
The brand name was inspired by Janet’s 1987 global hit Pleasure Principle that was the sixth single released from her groundbreaking award winning album, Control. Described by the industry as an independent woman’s anthem about love – Pleasure Principle seems a fitting link from Janet’s musical emancipation 21 years ago where she started to write about ‘changing, celebrating, hurting, healing, but always revealing my innermost soul” to her expansion into a fashion designer for modern women.
As Schiavi explains ‘Janet and I wanted to create a collection that empowers women and that makes women feel sexy, flirtatious and provocative. We wanted to make sure we captured the essence of all Janet’s favorite colors, laces and making sure that we stay true to who she is and what she loves’
The first collection of Pleasure Principle offers 14 designs across a combination of bra styles from balconettes, demi cups to full coverage. Sizes will range from a 32A to 44G.
