She’s jazz, she’s soul she R&B she’s hip-hop and she’s alternative, she’s L’Renee and she’s got a special song just for you. L’Renee (pronounced el-reh-nah); has always had the gift of music. Her name transliterated is Special Song which inspired the debut album title release.
With much local success, L’Renee has been able to start her own label with her starring as the label’s premier artist. As time past, L’Renee wanted a second opportunity to expose her talent to her fans hence the sophomore album ‘2^nd chances’. In collaboration with BLACK S.O.C.S.Ent., L’Renee productions have brought together another eclectic collage of musical serenity. Influenced by artists Dwele, Sade, Take 6, Chaka Khan, Lauryn Hill, & more- it’s no wonder how she has built such strong fan base. Many listeners testify that her music is like a breath of fresh air. When L”Renee signs there’s passion, there’s soul, there’s something that soothes and makes you want to holla at the same time.

How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?
L'Renee: OMG! I was magical...tears came to my eyes and I had a permanent smile on my face!
Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
L'Renee: No. So the sky is the limit!
Do you write your own songs?
L'Renee: Yes. I write most of them. I have done songs that others have written and released it on my project "2nd Chances" though. My inspiration is the ups and downs of being in intimate relationships. I'm a hopeless romantic and find that I am obsessed with being in and out of love.

L'Renee: I'm releasing three albums this year: "Europe", "L'Renee's Christmas", and "Jazzy- A compilation of Jazz Standards sung by L'Renee"
Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
L'Renee: All the time. Then I get over myself and keep moving forward.
Do you prefer performing live or recording?
L'Renee: Performing live is always preferred because you get the feed off the energy of the audience. The drawback is that there is no time to perfect an out of tune note or change a riff so its a catch 22.
What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
L'Renee: My father. He was a musician as I was growing up and fell astray, so I feel that by me pursuing it, I am lighthing and carrying the torch.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
L'Renee: Being told I'm not someone else enough to be successful (ie. too dark, too fat, too pretty, sing too well, etc) I decided to forget what they were saying the release my own music. It is a tough business, but my fan base if growing and I will soon be touring the Mid-West as a result.
What's a typical day like?
L'Renee: 12-9am day job, 9-2pm L'Renee Musique Inc., 2pm-5pm my family intermingled with landlording and being a daughter and sister to my immediate family.
What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?
L'Renee: Making others feel that they are not alone in their feelings of love and love lost.

L'Renee: John Legend or D'Angelo
Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?
L'Renee: I am not married, but I am in a long term relationship. I look for someone who supports me and is interested in my happiness over their own.

What is the story behind the bands name?
L'Renee: L'Renee is a combination of my first and middle names: Lori Renee. It was what inspired the title of my first project "Special Song" 2006 which is the direct translation of my name.
