On Chapel Street word travels fast and so does the pizza when you watch the team at Melbourne's newest concept, MELT Pizza, prepare your old favourite in their new way, right in front of your eyes and in two minutes.

 

Young Melbourne husband and wife duo, Dan & Elise Gold, have opened the doors to their new take on pizza, and three weeks in, the lines out the door indicate the locals are loving it.

 

The no oil, fat or sugar dough recipe comes from Naples, Italy where pizza was invented and where Dan and Elise studied pizza making, however it is the focus on speed and customisation that makes this pizza concept a Melbourne first.

 

'The creation of MELT came about because we didn't agree with the cheap Pizza options but we found the higher end alternatives slow and expensive," said Dan.

 

'Our concept is simple. Customers select from our premium gourmet ingredients on display and then after baking in our super-hot oven in just two minutes, they sit down and their pizza's ready," he said.

 

Elise continued, 'Pizza's very personal so this way everyone gets exactly what they want, then in two minutes they can either run to where they have to be, or they can sit down and enjoy the ambiance."

 

The ambiance this Melbourne couple has created also puts MELT on the map. The duo partnered with South Melbourne Design Agency -Can I Play' and the results speak for themselves.

 

'Creating a unique concept which hasn't existed before is exciting," said Dan. 'We're loving that people get our concept and tell us it's working for them".

 

Located at 171 Chapel St., Windsor, licenced MELT provides 'Classic or Custom" wood-fired pizzas baked in 2 minutes. Prices start from just $11, with gluten free and vegan options also available. For lunch there's also wood-fired sandwiches, gourmet salads and creative sides like their Doughballs with garlic butter. 7 Apples provides new gelato flavours weekly and customers can also enjoy a creative selection of craft beers and boutique wines by the glass.
