Mums on the Run for Breast Cancer Funds

Mums on the Run for Breast Cancer Funds Dig out those joggers and get active for mum in the annual Women in Super Mothers Day Classic Fun Run to find a cure for breast cancer. The event held on Mother's Day, Sunday 12 May in the Domain in Sydney and Gosch's Paddock in Melbourne, raises money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation's research projects.

Organised by Women In Super, a national network of women in the superannuation industry, the Mothers Day Classic, is the largest charity-focused fun run in Australia, attracting over 11,000 participants in Sydney and Melbourne. Individuals have the opportunity to get themselves sponsored for their participation in the event and can also wear a placard in tribute of family members or friends with breast cancer.

Schroder Investment Management Australia Limited, a domestic-based funds management company, proudly sponsors the Mothers Day Classic, which has raised over $420,000 for breast cancer research since the event was launched in 1998.

Women, men, their families and friends will meet at the scenic gardens of the Domain in Sydney or Gosch's Paddock in Melbourne to celebrate Mother's Day and to run or walk the 4km or 8km track, helping increase our understanding about breast cancer.

Catering for everyone, the fun run is a fun filled family event offering food, entertainment, amusements for the kids and information on breast cancer research. Participants receive the opportunity to win excellent prizes including a week's skiing at Mount Hotham, a trip to the Gold Coast and accommodation at a host of luxury hotels.

"We encourage everyone to join in and bring Mum along as part of the Mother's Day celebrations, or participate on behalf of a friend or relative who suffers from breast cancer", says WIS Chairperson Mavis Robertson.

Women in Super were established in 1994 to provide networking opportunities for all women in the superannuation industry. Women in Super, through the Mothers Day Classic, are the largest single annual donors to the National Breast Cancer Foundation's research programs.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1994 to promote and support breast cancer research in all its forms. The Foundation, with community support, has allocated $11 million to 70 breast cancer research projects across Australia.
