During autumn our appetites change, bringing on cravings for hearty, full-flavoured foods, rather than the lighter salads and seafood of summer.

Autumn flavours are typically warming and indulgent, however, this doesn't mean that they have to be too heavy. Game meats, such as Quail, go perfectly with vegetables and herbs that are traditionally associated with these colder months, and offer an alternative to the soups, stews and pastas that are also popular at this time of year. Many of Australia's top restaurants incorporate Quail into their autumn menus, to provide exciting flavours of the season to their diners.

Quail meat is wholesome, lean, rich in protein and a healthier alternative to higher-fat meats. It is available in a wide variety of cuts, such as semi-boneless and breast fillets, all designed to make preparation and cooking easy and serving simple.

Quail works well with leeks, baby potatoes, beans, mushrooms, rosemary, and dates – the perfect ingredients to make simple and tasty autumn meals that will warm you up on a chilly evening.
