Robert -Dipper' and Cheryl DiPierdomenico Gillette Movember Interview

Procter & Gamble's Gillette has announced the expansion of its official partnership as grooming partner of independent global charity, Movember into Australia & New Zealand.

Gillette, together with Movember, will be urging the men of Australia & New Zealand to grow and maintain a neat moustache over the month of November to raise vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health. In Australia, Gillette has pledged to raise $40,000 and beyond via matching employee donations of up to $20,000.

To kick start Movember, a series of Shave Down events will be hosted around the country to help guys prepare their skin for the best and neatest mos. Gillette shaving booths, complete with shaving experts, will be on hand showing guys how to manage their mos throughout Movember.

As part of Gillette's latest campaign The Kiss Debate, Gillette's Grooming Expert will be arming men with styling advice on how to grow the best moustache, keep it neat and ensure maximum kissability. Meanwhile, the ladies will be given advice from Gillette's Kissing Expert on how to navigate their way around their man's mo for the best kisses.

To celebrate the end of Movember, and to remind guys it's back to -business as usual' when it comes to grooming, Gillette will be hosting a Mow the Mo event in Pitt Street Mall in Sydney.

Emman Delacruz, P&G Gillette Brand Manager, comments: 'Gillette is delighted to be the official grooming partner of Movember for the first time in Australia & New Zealand. It's a very natural synergy for us. The month of November acts as a stark reminder to men to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health. Throughout our partnership with Movember, our aim is to raise as much awareness and funds for the vital charity as possible while supporting men in still keeping their mos neat and trim."

Jeremy Macvean, Movember Australia Country Director, said: 'We're thrilled to have Gillette come aboard as a Major Partner of Movember in Australia. Through the partnership, Gillette will be helping Mo Bros to keep it neat across the 30 days of Movember".

Gillette will be supporting its partnership with Movember via above and below the line activity including TVCs, PR, experiential events, social media and sampling.

Interview with Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico

Question: Can you give us your best tips to grow a mo?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: After a couple of days of unshaven skin, I would recommend using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide to shave the cheeks, neck and chin but leave the mo area untouched. With a Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3in1, shave a strong diagonal line from the nose to just beyond the corner of the mouth. Finish with trimming any stray hairs along the upper lip.

Question: Could you share your best advice for grooming, conditioning and cleaning the mo to ensure maximum kissability?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: A great shave begins before you even pick up a razor or styler. I start by hydrating my face and neck with a warm face washer. Next, I lather up using my favourite shaving foam. I really like Gillette Fusion HydraGel and the way it lathers around my face.

Question: How much time and effort goes into your mo?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: You never stop grooming and caring for your mo. It depends on what events you have on, if you have a sporting event you might wear your mo quite relaxed. If you have a rather posh event, you can flick up the ends for a dressier look. I find wetting my mo helps to get the hairs into line; it also helps me to spot the stragglers as I like to show them who is boss. All up it takes about 15 minutes in front of the mirror.

Question: What are the best tools for keeping the mo in prime condition?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: Growing a mo is a serious commitment. You need to show dedication to the cause and be armed with the right tools. On a day to day basis to keep my cheeks kissably smooth I like to use Gillette Fusion ProGlide as it gives me a really clean shave. To trim and style my mo I use the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler 3in1. The precision Edge Blade gives me the ability to make defined lines for me to style my mo accordingly.

Question: How do you feel about being a mo-inspiration?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: Looking back to the 80's my mo has kept the same consistent shape all the way through. I'm proud to say I have a lifetime of mo ahead of me, it's a big part of who I am and my persona. I've even been told that some of my fans have mo-envy!

Question: How do you keep your marriage fun and fresh after 34 years?
Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: Neither of us takes life too seriously. We laugh a lot, we have fun and we live life like we did when my mo was a new arrival! I often say to Cheryl she is my second wife, behind my mo, but it's been a big part of our relationship over the years and something I think she has grown very fond of.

Question: Why is it important for you to support Movember?

Robert -Dipper' DiPierdomenico: Movember is a fantastic cause to help raise vital funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health. In Australia, Gillette has pledged to raise $40,000 and beyond via matching employee donations of up to $20,000. It's great to see the men of Australia getting involved in this single manly journey.

Interview with Cheryl DiPierdomenico

Question: What do you love about the mo?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: It really becomes a part of your personality. Dipper takes a lot of pride in how he wears his mo, so it is always neatly groomed with clean shaven cheeks, which means I still get the best kisses without having to sacrifice his signature style!

Question: Would you have your husband, any other way?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: As much as I joke about Dippers mo, I wouldn't want it any other way. It is such a big part of his personality and I think people really find it quite endearing.

Question: Can you share your best survival and navigation tips on kissing a mo-wearing man? Is it possible to avoid pash rash?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: When Dipper combs his mo daily with a fine moustache comb I find this keeps all the mo hairs in line. I can always tell when he needs to get the scissors out to trim his mo as the stragglers are usually sticking out. With the constant manoeuvring of the moustache up onto the top lip this keeps it out of my mouth. Thankfully Dipper doesn't use any mo wax as the smell is really unpleasant!

My advice to those who aren't used to kissing a mo, is to ensure there is no stubble around the mo to avoid getting dreaded pash rash, there's nothing worse!

Question: Could you give your top tips on how to get the best kisses during Movember?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: Encourage your partner to keep his mo clean, the last thing you want to see are reminders from yesterday's breakfast. Maintaining clean shaven cheeks throughout the grooming process is also really important if they still want to receive kisses. Let them have their space when they are grooming their mo, even if this means hogging the bathroom for 15 minutes a day.

Question: What advise do you have for wives to keep the marriage entertaining after 34 years?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: Let them have their space, they will appreciate the time with you more if they have had their -bathroom time' to groom their mo and pray to the mo gods. I think our marriage is still so young and fresh because we both live like we are as young as when we first met!

Question: Why is it important for you to support Movember?

Cheryl DiPierdomenico: Movember is a great cause and raises money for conditions which are likely to touch the lives of many of our male friends and family. As the official grooming partner of Movember, Gillette is urging all Australian men to grow a mo and to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health.
