 We speak to hot new music artist Ryan Joy!
Questions:
- How did it feel to hear your song played all over the airwaves?
It felt so awesome! I was like OMG, my song is on the radio!!! :)
- Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
When I first started I did, it looked so glamourous and fun... but it really is ALOT of hard work... but I still love it!
- Do you write your own songs?
What's your inspiration? I do write, I have not recorded anything I have written yet though. I will be going to NY
next weekend and will be recording a song I am writing currently. I try and draw experience from things going on in my life or going on with someone close to me.
- What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your ow n?
I listen to sooo many different types of music. Anyone from Mariah Carey, to Justin, to Christina, to Journey, Aaliyah, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc...
- What's next? Tour/Album/Single?
Album will be the next thing, I will have my full album recorded next month. YEAH!:) Hopefully a tour will be next, we do have a couple (cross my fingers) that will hopefully come through :)
- Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
A loong time ago, I went through the phaze where I just wanna be a normal person and live a normal life..and marry my boyfriend..etc..and then I realized quickly, What in the world am I doing!?... lol ... So I got right back into it.
- Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Performing Live... its such an adrenaline rush to be up on stage performing... I do like the whole creative proces s of the studio, but performing live I prefer.
- What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
A little bit of everything and everyone influenced me. I use to always watch all the music videos and Star Search, Mickey Mouse Club, Kids INC. etc... and that was all I would watch on TV, so I always knew I wanted to do this.
- What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
Fighting negativity, there have been a few people on the way that didn't believe in me as an artist, and that's something I had to realize, deal with and accept. Not everyone is going to like you or your music, but I can't let them get me down. I have learned how to turn negativity into inspiration for me to be even better!!
- What's a typical day like?
Well right now I have a part time job, so I work in the morning, I have vocal lessons twi ce a week, and we rehearse
3 times a week. On top of traveling back and forth to NY to record and performing at various shows. lol
- What has been your favorite part of becoming a music artist?
Traveling and performing for people! I love the feeling I get being on stage and seeing peoples faces when I'm singing to them. it's amazing:)
- If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
I would love to do something with either Justin Timberlake, Musiq Soulchild or Jill Scott. They are all awesome vocalist!!
- Are you single? What do you look for in a partner?
Not really... lol ... although my boyfriend is moving to another country tommorrow:(
I look for someone who I have things in common with, like a great personality, sense of humor(I loved funny guys)... and Cute too... lol :)
