What inspired you to become a DJ?

Thomas Gold: I started being a DJ when I was 14, I would play records and cassettes at parties with my friends, not professional, but for fun. I love to make music, and listen to music and make music for others to dance too. I was young when I got my first professional gig, I was 18 years old and it was at a club, I lost it two nights later because I was bad, I learnt from there how to develop myself and how to learn and that's how it all started.

What is the best thing about being a DJ?

Thomas Gold: Being in the middle of the music, being heard and listening, and it is great seeing people dance and being happy. Nothing is better than being right in the middle of them, playing my own tracks, it is the best feeling you can have.

What has been your biggest success in regards to remixers?

Thomas Gold: Was 'Silence', a couple of weeks ago it made the charts at number 1, and big players (DJs) have played it, I mean it was the biggest. 'Just Jack Writers Block' went well, that was extrememly fun to remix. I had a lot of fun remixing it. Both are viewable on www.youtube.com

Where do you like touring the best?

Thomas Gold: Very much Russia, the people are so excited and they know me and the people, especially international DJs as the club culture is so new, they didn't have clubs five years ago. I also like being in the UK , it is good and special to see my music being appreciated, and they appreciate what you do. I very much like to play in Germany, at home, the times when I have my friends around me.

_ _What did you expect going into the producing and remixing industry?

Thomas Gold: I expected, I hoped to be successful and dreamt to make music and listen to it in a radio or a club, which was my expectation. I had the expectation to see people move and dance to my music.

When your not playing your own music who's do you listen too?

Thomas Gold: Actually when I'm not in a club, I listen a lot to the radio, because I don't like to listen to too much club music, I like to listen to chill-out music and soul, and pop. Also 70's music.

What is it like playing live to a crowd?

Thomas Gold: It is great to see others dancing to your own music, perfect, such a good feeling when people are happy and they scream and shout and jump around. What could be better than making people happy? Putting them in a good mood, music is so important in my life, music takes you higher. It is great to see your music influence the club. It is just amazing. Watching every party. It is just amazing. It is so good to see people partying and you are the one who makes it.

Do you think your music is changing the direction of the music industry?

Thomas Gold: I mean, my music as in remixes are, maybe I am apart of it, not my music is, well not all it, we are all apart of it. We produce and DJ and we have influences the industry, and the people in it.

Tell me a bit about the producing side of your music and your own record label

Thomas Gold: I bought my first part of equipment when I was 15 years old, I bought it and saved up my money, instead of going on holidays, I went shopping in a music store and then from there built up my home studio. I also learnt the keyboard and played and learnt lessons from a really good teacher from the age of 8 until 16 years old. I mean it was just that I wanted to play music and make music. I built up my studio and studied hard. I want to be real and release, a couple of years a go I was contacted by the music industry and asked to make a mix for free, I said yes of course. That's how it all started. I got into the industry and now I work so much, I am always in the studio. All weekend, I am always there sometimes for the whole night, until five or six in the morning. It is fun, I love what I do. I want to do it everyday. I love to go out and DJ at gigs, and travel around the world.

After the tour what is next for you?

Thomas Gold: I am doing a production for Ministry of Sound for the UK they asked me to help them in a new project and then I will finish my own next single which I will release in the middle of August. Then already working on my next and I had an idea so I went into working on that. But that is a secret. Then of course I am working on an EP with some more clubbing music and some instrumental anthems. I will also be taking care of my own label which means my schedule is full. And of course travelling around to gigs.
