VAMFF Premium Runway How To Guide

Priceline Pharmacy is the Hair and Beauty Partner for the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF). As part of the sponsorship, Priceline Pharmacy Makeup Director, Rae Morris, and Priceline Pharmacy Hair Director, Kenneth Stoddart, have created all the hair and beauty looks for the premium runway shows.

Please see below for Rae and Kenneth's -how to' guides for each of the looks seen on the runway last night, including product picks.

Premium Runway 1 – Tuesday 8 March, 6pm

The Look: Au natural, soft and feminine.

Step 1: Apply a light coverage of foundation to even out skin tone. Use concealer where needed. Slightly contour cheeks.

Step: 2: Powder eyelids and apply a wash of colour (one shade darker than your skin colour) all over the lid and under the lash line. Highlight with a lighter colour in the inner corners of the eyes. Apply one coat of brown/black mascara.

Step 3: Brush and fill brows with powder for a soft full shape.

Step 4: Finish off the look with a natural rose coloured lipstick.

Tip – for problematic skin that may need more coverage, use a slightly heavier foundation in problem areas, and use the lighter coverage foundation in areas of the face/ neck that need less.

Hair: Apply a blow drying spray to damp hair and start blow drying your hair in sections using a large round boar bristle brush. Work your way up to the top/front. Once done, brush through your hair with a flat boar bristle brush and then run some hair serum sparingly through your hair to add shine and delicate texture. Allow the hair to break apart and fall wherever it wants to fall.

Premium Runway 2 – Tuesday 8 March, 7:30pm

The Look: Fresh dewy skin with a pop of colour on the eyes.

Step 1: Apply a medium coverage foundation to create a polished finish to the skin. Use concealer where needed. Take your time to ensure the foundation is blended well.

Step 2: Apply a cream / liquid highlighter to cheek bones.

Step 3: Powder the T zone.

Step 4: Apply a creamy burgundy eye shadow all over the lid. Apply one coat of mascara.

Step 5: Brush and fill brows with powder for a soft full shape.

Step 6: Finish off the look with a neutral coloured lipstick. 

Tip – If you have dark coloured lips, use a lighter shade of lipstick to help soften the natural colour.

Hair: Apply a salt spray through the hair from roots to ends. Dry into hair.  Brush through with flat boar bristle brush. Use your fingers to rake the hair back off the face and slightly to the side. Brush the sides back with a brush for a tighter side. Grip the hair at the nape with an elastic and then run a little serum through the ponytail for a glossy definition.

Premium Runway 3 – Tuesday 8 March, 9:30pm

The Look: Glitz and glam eyes.

Step 1: Apply a medium coverage of foundation to create a polished finish to the skin. Use concealer where needed. Take your time to ensure the foundation is blended well.

Step 2: Apply a cream / liquid highlight to cheek bones

Step 3: Powder the T zone.

Step 4: Add a wash of peach coloured shadow all over the lid. Apply one coat of black mascara.

Step 5: Apply black eyeliner in the inner rim of the eye.

Step 6: Using a glitter eyeshadow, apply over all the peach eyeshadow.

Step 7: Brush and fill brows with powder for a soft full shape.

Step 8: Finish off with a soft pink gloss on the lips.

Hair: Apply some salt spray to dry hair and brush or comb through. Part the hair down the middle from front hairline to nape. Plait each side from roots to ends in a large thick plait. Cover the plait with aluminium foil and clamp down the hair with your straightening iron. Leave to cool and then unwrap the foil and braid. Run your fingers through the hair to break up the braided waves. Finish with a light spritz of hairspray.
