William Edge
Ambient Space Musician releases Soundchamber CD
William Edge is a composer of ambient space music, offering something fresh for fans of this genre. Sounds Blue Music and William Edge are pleased to announce the release of Soundchamber, William Edge's 8th CD in a remarkable catalogue of ambient space music. His releases feature spectrally coated star lit compositions that range from touchingly shy eyed to cavernous monoliths - but always celestial.
Each William Edge CD is composed around a story of life in a distant future of Orwellian reality where quantum travel is possible and lonely isolation starve the soul. Whether travelling to the very edge of the known universe or working as a solitary cartographer deploying mapping-bots across a vast sector of the galaxy - life for individuals is often desperate.
Soundchamber is set against a story of life in an ice mine perched aboard a massive ice asteroid. Workers quarry huge ice blocks that are loaded onto freighters and shipped to colonies for water or cracking into oxygen and hydrogen. The ice mine is a completely self-contained city of thousands where generations of miners live and die.
Songs range from the politically inspired "Darfur" to the lonesome "Night Outside my Portal Window", with a touch of the sensuous in "Love Robot". About an hour of music, this CD is a must-listen for fans of Jon Serrie and William Orbit.
