These crazy creatures are not your normal zoo animals!
Zoobots - BRUCE WHATLEY is one of Australias best-loved and most-respected author/illustrators. His books consistently appear on CBCA awards lists, and he has illustrated over fifty books to date. This is Bruces first book with his son, BEN SMITH WHATLEY.
Bruce says Zoobots started out as an idea for a graphic novel illustrated in a traditional comic book format but then I came across a 3D computer program called Cinema 4D. It changed my whole approach to image making for this book. Ben, who has a natural talent for animation and a great capacity to pick up new software, was the ideal partner for this project.
After spending a couple of days in Sydney learning how to use the software we were able to create the virtual world that became Junk Jungle. Hopefully this will be the first of many projects Ben and I work on together.
Zebo and her friends, Hyde and TC, live in Junk Jungle, which is a scrappy kind of place that is filled with things that look like - other things! Zebo likes her friends very much, but she longs for another friend - one who isnt as big as her best friend Hyde and one who isnt as small as her other best friend TC. One who is just right. But where can Zebo find such a new friend?
Making new friends can sometimes be hard to do - unless you live in Junk Jungle, which is filled with things that can be turned into other useful things - like a new friend!
