GIRL'S 60 SECOND QUIZ

Name: CJ DOLAN
Star Sign: Cancer

Fave Food: Bangers 'n' Mash
Fave Film: Blade Runner
Fave Band(s): George
Describe yourself in 3 words: Down-to-earth!
Best Feature: My Honesty
Worst Feature: My Honesty!
Person you would most like to meet: The President of the United States
Hobbies/Interests: Music, music, music!
First Job: Storeman/Packer
A talent you wish you had: Singing really well!
The best advice given to you: Just do it!

GIRL: When did you first realise your love of music?

CJ: I think it was when I was about 13 years of age- that's as far as I can remember back! (laughs)

GIRL: What prompted you to make the transition from DJ to music producer?

CJ: There wasn't any transition really, I was a producer at the same time I was a DJ. I sort of learnt both crafts simultaneously. Then I left DJing behind because I didn't like the actual status thing and lifestyle really.

GIRL: Now do you recall your first professional gig?

CJ: Yes I do.

GIRL: And what was that experience like?

CJ: Pretty good actually. I played onstage at Festival Hall with Run DMC back in 1988. Gee I'm showing my age now! (laughs)

GIRL: How would you define the sound of Quench?

CJ: I'd really like to say indefinable but I think it's up to you guys to define it. I love what I'm doing and I do what I do and I try not to think about it too much.

GIRL: The global smash hit "Dreams" was the track responsible for catapulting you onto the world arena. Did you ever envision that "Dreams" would become so successful and would be the song to start the ball rolling?

CJ: No way, I mean how can you ever tell that sort of stuff? This business is extraordinary and in some circumstances things work that you don't believe do and then sometimes things don't when you think they should. So look, I could never even in my wildest dreams (no pun intended!) believe that it was going to be as successful as it was.

GIRL: Who has played a major influence on your career?

CJ: I'd have to say my girlfriend.

GIRL: If you could choose an artist you'd like to work with, who would it be?

CJ: I would love to work with Angelis because I love what he does and I feel it would be an awesome learning experience.

GIRL: What is your favourite track on your latest album?

CJ: That would have to be Class 101 because it just has a vibe about it. It's kinda really cruisy without having to be definably dance and sort of oriented to just being club music. It's got this feel about it, that I just feel very happy and positive about.
GIRL: Is the title of your album "Conse-Quench-ial" significant in any way, or is it merely just a play on words?
CJ: It's just a play on words.

GIRL: Your current single "Embrace The Sunshine" features vocalist Lisa Worley. How did this collaboration come about?

CJ: Well we've been working with Lisa for many years doing a lot of corporate stuff and so on. We've worked with a few vocalists but it's just a matter of finding the right person and being able to have some sort of connection there where you can feel comfortable and come up with music together.

GIRL: Well it's worked out really well. "Embrace the Sunshine" is one of our favourite songs off your album, so congratulations!

CJ: Wicked, thanks!

GIRL: What is next on the horizon for Quench?

CJ: It's a good question because I would have said if you had of asked me that yesterday, I would have said 'open book'.

GIRL: And today?

CJ: Today I'm thinking Class 101!
