Alexander Biggs Whatever Helps You Sleep

Melbourne creative Alexander Biggs has today released the official music video for 'Whatever Helps You Sleep', the title track of his second EP, released via Sony Music Entertainment Australia in August.

The video was born of Alexander's own creative vision and aesthetic direction. The music video invites the viewer into Alexander's home, where he finds his world amalgamating into an ocean-themed dream, which quickly unravels into an aquatic nightmare.

Alexander explains "I really wanted this clip to move away from the narrative of the song, and more so focus on the dreamy nature of the song. I like that it doesn't take itself too seriously, which was a great way to not rest on the heavier material of the record. We had a lot of fun with it. Michael Ridley did a great job in taking my concept and turning it into what it is, and I'm glad I could get my musical friends involved making their cameos."

Directed by Michael Ridley, the video stars a number of Alexander's friends, including Jackson Phelan, Michael Hood and Oscar Galt.

Whatever Helps You Sleep chronicles the emotions of desiring loneliness over the company of people you don't want to be around. The track is one of seven songs featured on Alexander's 2018 EP, which was the follow-up to his 2017 acclaimed debut EP, Still You Sharpen Your Teeth which received more than one million streams on Spotify and global airplay on triple j, BBC Radio 1 and KCRW. The EP was co-produced with Matthew Neighbour (The Avalanches, Matt Corby, Missy Higgins) with stories ranging from autobiographical ('The Worst We've Ever Been' essays a toxic relationship) to ruminations on grief and loss ('Car Ride' ); from trying to nurture more positive living habits ('Dog Boy') to finding the positive side to negative events ('Death Bed').

Alexander has toured with artists such as Evan Dando, Frightened Rabbit, Julien Baker and supported Amy Shark on her extensive August/September Australian tour. He will continue on the live circuit in 2018 and into 2019 with a number of shows already announced. In some other exciting news, Alexander has been selected to take part in Sounds Australia's third delegation to South America this month. He will perform at En Orbita Festival (Santiago) and music conferences FLUVIAL (Valdivia), BAFIM (Buenos Aires) and SIM (São Paulo).

Alexander will also take part in APRA AMCOS' first-ever South American SongHubs in São Paulo, Brazil.
