ArtPlay: School Holiday Highlights

Underwater adventures and fabulous fashion workshops are amongst a huge array of activities on offer these school holidays at the City of Melbourne's iconic ArtPlay.

Exhibition: Beneath
15 Sept – 5 Nov. Ages 4 – 12 years.

Come and explore an underwater landscape created from recycled plastic in this new interactive installation. With surprising creatures and sounds all around, participants are invited to move around and explore the space, learning about the many mysteries of the ocean depths. Free, no bookings required.

Surviving Scary
23 Sept – 24 Sept. Ages 3 – 5 years.

Learn how to survive the scary things and take part in a musical adventure. This workshop is for the brave and the cautious. Children will be taken on a musical journey, making toolkits to survive the scary things they'll find along the way. Bookings essential.

Design it. Make it. Wear it.
30 Sept – 1 Oct. Ages 6 – 12 years.

Create a fabulous party outfit made from upcycled materials. Choose from feathery fascinators, tutu fringed skirts, cute animal ears or even a tail, outfits can be as fantastically fun or fabulously fashionable as you want. Bookings essential.

ArtPlay Backyard
4 Oct – 10 Dec. All ages.

Spring has sprung and the ArtPlay backyard is back. Draw in the dirt, build sculptures with recycled material and natural materials of muck about in the water. Make a mandala, wrap up some rope or ribbon and dream up your own mini landscape. Anything is possible! Free, no bookings required.

Bunjil's Nest
4 Oct. Ages 9 – 12 years.

Spend the afternoon creating a Bunjil's nest made from rope and raffia. Work together to weave the giant nest or learn the skills needed to make your own mini Bunjil's nest at home. Bookings essential.

All that we are

7 Oct – 8 Oct. Ages 6 – 12 years.
Big kids and little kids alike can create their own sculpture using fallen branches and plaster bandages. The completed figures will then be placed together in a temporary installation celebrating the connection between generations. Bookings essential.
