Following the release of her singles 'Life's An Awful Mess' and 'OCD,' Australia's rising star Carla Wehbe today releases her next single 'Gentle With Me', listen here, and announces her new EP Dark In The Light, due for release on June 5 through Warner Music Australia and available for pre-order now.
Speaking about her new single 'Gentle With Me', Carla said, "Some people teach you love by breaking you, and 'Gentle With Me' is about the rare kind that teaches you by staying. It's strange when someone doesn't punish you for being fragile and 'Gentle With Me' is about learning to trust in the gentleness to feel safe being vulnerable."
Along with the new track Carla is set to share her next body of work Dark In The Light, the highly anticipated follow up to her sophomore EP Jupiter and Mars in 2023. Dark In The Light features the recent singles 'Life's An Awful Mess' and 'OCD.'
"Dark in the Light is an exploration of duality " a raw, emotional dive into the idea that light and dark coexist in all of us. Inspired by the balance of the universe, the EP is a sonic representation of yin and yang and the songs came from moments where I didn't know if I was breaking or healing " but it was probably both. It explores the idea that darkness and light aren't opposites, but companions. The EP lives in the in-between: the heart ache beneath the smile, the flicker of hope inside despair, the beauty in contradiction, even the darkness inside of joy. It's not about choosing sides " it's about learning to live with both. Light bleeds, shadows breathe, and somewhere in the blur between the two, these songs found me. Maybe they'll find you too" Carla speaks of the upcoming EP Dark In The Light.
Following the release of her sophomore EP JUPITER AND MARS and soliciting the attention of global superstars Benson Boone and Teddy Swims and supporting international acts The Chicks and Alec Benjamin, 2024 continued to be a massive year for Carla. She kicked the year off by releasing her infectious single 'Sideshow', followed by the vintage-indie pop anthem 'Life's An Awful Mess', and ending the year by hitting the TikTok Awards stage with a performance of 'Austin' by US singer Dasha, and releasing her first original Christmas track 'christmas doesn't feel the same without you' - all while delivering dynamic performances while supporting international superstar G-FLIP, pop sensation Peach PRC, British singer and songwriter JP Cooper, and UK pop-rock artist Beth McCarthy, captivating audiences with her energy and charisma.
Carla is cementing her rise as one of Australia's most electric indie pop artists,, and with more exciting things to come be sure to keep an eye out for more music and touring in 2025.
