Foster A Plant

Foster Care Association of Victoria (FCAV) has launched its Foster a Plant campaign across Victoria, aimed at raising awareness about foster care and to raise vital funds in order to support Victorian foster care families.

Foster a Plant Ambassadors Shannon Berry - -Brody' in Aussie drama -Offspring', and Debra Lawrence and Dennis Coard – famous for their roles as foster parents -Pippa and Michael' in TV drama, Home And Away,  helped launch today's campaign by fostering their own plants for the month of September.

'It's really easy to get involved. Click on the mycause website, make a donation or set up your own fundraising page, buy a plant, use an existing one, or use a virtual plant - a picture. Then gather your tribe for some fun and fundraising!" Katie Hooper, Foster Care Association of Victoria CEO.

Katie Hooper said the organisation hoped to reach the target of $10,000.

'Getting involved and making a donation is such a simple and easy way to make a positive difference to carers and a child living in Out of Home Care. I can't encourage Victorians enough to get involved in this important cause," Ms Berry said.

Actor and foster care advocate Debra Lawrence said she hoped the public would get behind the campaign. 'Foster carers really are amazing people. They open their homes to children who have experienced abuse and trauma and provide a haven for children and young people to heal, grow and flourish" Ms Lawrence said.

Participants are being encouraged to hold a get-together with family, friends and colleagues during the month of September, talk about foster care and raise funds for the cause.
