Lasca Dry Announces Debut EP + Shares New Single & Video 'Behave'
Tasmanian indie-rock artist Lasca Dry returns with her bold new single 'Behave', out Thursday February 26, the second release from her forthcoming debut EP Time Keeps Drifting, arriving April 9.

Sharp, punchy and laced with rebellion, 'Behave' captures the moment a chronic people-pleaser decides she's had enough. It's the sound of expectation colliding with independence, an unapologetic, "I do what I want" anthem that pulses with confidence and bite.

Co-written with John Castle, the track came together during their second day in the studio. What began as a spontaneous burst of creative energy quickly became essential to the EP, so much so that another song was cut to make room for it.

Lyrically, the new single explores the pressure of expectation and the turning point where a people-pleaser begins questioning whose voice they're listening to, capturing a flash of defiance and the courage to draw a line.

The accompanying music video channels the track's defiant spirit into something immediate and unfiltered, following Lasca as she moves through city streets with a sense of fearless abandon. Shot in a raw, documentary style, the visual captures fleeting moments of movement, spontaneity and release - echoing the song's tension between expectation and self-expression. "Have you ever had an argument on the street? That raw energy is what I wanted to capture in this video - moving through the streets dancing freely, like you just don't care who's watching, and I really didn't! Must have been the loud awesome song in my headphones."

Set for release on April 9, Time Keeps Drifting is an emotionally rich five-track debut exploring growth, doubt, love and self-trust. It documents the experience of being pulled in different directions - by relationships, expectation and inner criticism - and the slow, powerful realisation that when the noise gets loud, the only way forward is inward.

The EP's first single 'Messy Mind' laid the emotional foundation for the project, capturing the chaos of anxiety, doubt and hope colliding at once. The track earned adds to Unearthed, SYN FM and Edge Radio, alongside airplay across RTR FM and Aussie Music Weekly, while also landing DSP playlisting on Apple Music's Good Times and New In Rock.

Across the EP, Lasca moves through vulnerability and self-exploration, tracing the emotional terrain of growing into yourself. 'Messy Mind' captures the chaos of mental overwhelm through warm yet bustling sonics, while 'Behave' flips expectation into defiant independence. Written during lockdown in Devonport, 'Self' dives into identity, doubt and the refusal to abandon creative dreams, and 'Mad Heart Beat' explores the emotional exhaustion that comes with searching for love. Closing the record, 'Cosmic Glow' drifts into psychedelic, other-worldly calm - a dreamy, Omnichord-laced moment that suggests even in uncertainty, something within us is quietly guiding the way.

Sonically blending indie rock warmth with psychedelic textures and emotionally honest lyricism, Time Keeps Drifting marks Lasca Dry as a compelling new voice navigating the messy, beautiful process of becoming.

Lasca Dry will bring the new material to the stage at Tasmania's Good Gumnuts Festival on March 7, offering fans an early taste of the EP's raw emotion and electric energy, with official launch shows set to be announced soon.

With 'Behave', Lasca Dry leans into her boldest instincts yet - sharper, more self-assured and unafraid to push against expectation - and with Time Keeps Drifting, she arrives fully realised. It's a debut that captures an artist stepping into clarity and conviction, embracing vulnerability while trusting her own instincts, and emerging with a voice that is unmistakably her own.
