Sofi Tukker Announce New Album 'Butter'

Genre-bending, GRAMMY-nominated duo SOFI TUKKER have announced their new album butter, dropping May 16th. butter is a labor of love, celebrating Brazilian culture and music, and is the jazz-infused, alter-ego companion to their acclaimed 2024 album BREAD.
Over ten years in the making, the seeds of butter were planted on SOFI TUKKER's collaboration with The Knocks, 'Brazilian Soul'. Through its own viral momentum, 'Brazilian Soul' has amassed 50 million+ streams on Spotify alone, and was the gateway for SOFI TUKKER to lean into a deeper exploration of the Bossa nova sonic universe that had already infiltrated their signature electric sound. As such it felt like the perfect album closer for butter. The first new butter single will be 'Brea' with Seu Jorge, out May 2nd. SOFI TUKKER, comprised of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, have captured the making of butter through an engaging, short form docuseries. Episode 1 is live today; watch it HERE. Future episodes will be posted in the coming weeks. Recorded in Brazil, butter displays a different side of the band. Known for their inclusive and global perspective on electronic music, butter allowed them to delve into other Brazilian genres they love, including MPB, bossa nova and samba, along with Latin genres bolero and bachata, and more contemporary genres like reggae and samba-reggae. With its top-down, breezy atmosphere, butter features SOFI TUKKER along with incomparable Brazilian musicians using nearly all organic elements, making for a striking contrast to their more dance/EDM fare. Some of the key tracks from BREAD have been reimagined for butter, including 'Throw Some Ass','Woof', 'Hey Homie' and 'Spiral'. Billboard called BREAD a "must devour," Cosmopolitan said, "it's as dance-y as it is deep," GRAMMY.COM raved, "they bring joy and irreverence to their beats," and Associated Press noted, "nothing is predictable in SOFI TUKKER'S collaged jungle-pop." 2025 is shaping up to be another exciting year for SOFI TUKKER. The band have a new 2025 residency in Las Vegas with dates at various Wynn Nightlife properties throughout the year. They're also performing at Xanadu Roller Disco Party NYC (4/25), Stagecoach/Diplo's Honky Tonk (4/27), BottleRock Napa Valley (5/23), Breakaway Festival Ohio (5/30) and World Pride 2025 Washington DC (June 6-7). SOFI TUKKER will also perform a special 'butter' set at the iconic Newport Jazz Festival August 1-3. SOFI TUKKER played a triumphant North American Headline tour in 2024 in addition to support slots with Kygo and J Balvin. Festival favourites they've graced the stage at Coachella, Governor's Ball, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and many more. They launched their own clothing imprint WET TENNIS and were the face of G-STAR RAW's colorful denim campaign. Dedicated activists, they've worked with Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Natural Resources Defense Council, The Nature Conservancy, the March for Our Lives and the Red Cross, among others. They also have a partnership with Novo Fogo organic Brazilian drinks, an independent producer of Brazil's national sugarcane spirit cachaça in the Atlantic Rainforest, and non-alcoholic sparkling mate tea.
