The Janoskians

Sony Music Entertainment Australia is excited to announce the signing of The Janoskians to the label. The Janoskians are five mates from Melbourne that shot to fame after becoming a YouTube sensation and appearing on the number one American daytime chat show, Ellen.

The Janoskians (Just Another Name Of Silly Kids In Another Nation Skip) started gaining recognition late in 2011 after making weekly videos of mockumentaries and pranks for YouTube. The Janoskians consists of brothers Beau, Jai and Luke Brooks, with mates Daniel -Skip' Sahyounie and James Yammouni.

What started as an after school project for the teenagers has grown into something of a phenomenon, with over 2 million views of their hilarious -Awkward Elevator Situations' prank, almost 270,000 subscribers to their YouTube channel and over 28 million video views in total. They also have over 800,000 combined Facebook friends, and close to 900,000 combined Twitter followers. This evident online success and popularity demonstrates their existence as not just a group of kids having a laugh, but as serious contenders for the charts.

On a recent national tour that involved sending teenage girls across the country crazy, The Janoskians caused havoc at local shopping malls and venues. With more than 10,000 fans turning up in Sydney and 8,000 in Queensland, their hometown event at Luna Park Melbourne had to be shut down by police because of serious crowd control concerns as fans clambered to see the pranksters. The national meet and greet campaign was run totally through their social media fan base.

'We can't believe the incredible year we have had so far, it's been totally amazing! What started as us playing pranks on our friends has led to us appearing on Ellen...we never thought would happen! Signing with Sony Music is the icing on the cake and we can't wait to get into the studio and start laying down some tracks. We still have to pinch ourselves to believe that this is really happening", says Beau Brooks, the spokesman for the boys.
