Rising Brisbane Indie Group Vinted Vineer Release New Single 'You'
Brisbane's very own Vinted Vineer have just served up a fresh dose of dreamy goodness– carrying on from the momentum of their recent release 'zzz', the band have dropped a gorgeous new number titled 'you'. Incorporating elements of psychedelic, shoegaze, alt-pop and indie, the track is a visceral love song which captures the moment of meeting a soulmate for the first time.
On the themes and meaning behind the song itself, Vinted Vineer said:
"'You' is a love song. It's about moving from a place of loneliness to suddenly finding love, sometimes in ways you don't expect. It's that feeling when someone enters your life and changes everything for better or for worse. The song sits in that space between relief, hope, and the unexpected ways love can arrive. When I wrote it, I was feeling lonely and started imagining what it would be like to have someone break through that solitude. The lyrics came from that mix of longing and the simple idea of love showing up out of nowhere." VINTED VINEER
Recorded at their home studio in Brisbane with sound engineering by Ruben McIntyre, 'you' exists within a dreamlike and ethereal moment in time. Driven by a pulsing heartbeat, flowing with waves of warmth and sentimentality; the single pulls the listener upwards with ease, floating and cloudlike in its soundscape. On the process of hand-crafting the track into the stunning entity we hear now, the band's very own Dominic noted:
"The song started with me teaching myself a little picking pattern and over a few months it grew slowly from there… The lyrics are plain spoken, the melodies are direct, and the structure had to reflect that. Love can be uncomplicated and we wanted the song to carry that feeling. In the studio we tried different versions, adding layers and taking them away, but in the end it circled back to being close to the first demo. That was the moment we realised it worked best when we didn't overthink it. We kept it natural, even adding a banjo in the outro just for fun, but never pushing it too far from where it began." Vinted Vineer have spent much of the last couple of years building up their live repertoire, playing opening slots for the likes of Velvet Trip, Le Shiv, Nice Biscuit, Sunbeam Sound Machine and more. Now, these Brisbanites will take centrestage for the launch of the brand new single, celebrating 'you' with a hometown gig on October 18th. To follow, the band will play a string of shows throughout October and November, with dates lined up in Brunswick Heads, Lennox Head, Sunshine Coast, Wollongong, Sydney and Ballina!
