Perth Based Rapper Alex Parkman Releases New Single 'King Of The Block'

Perth based artist Alex Parkman is back to kick-start a huge 2019 in the form of his new anthem 'King of the Block' available February 1st worldwide. The Zimbabwe-born, 21 year old had a big 2018, making his mark with a string of engaging singles that saw a rapid growth of loyal fans who have been waiting patiently for his next installment.

Alex Parkman's vibe and spirit are captured within his melody and lyricism almost effortlessly, which was solidified when his single 'Out Of Touch' debuted no.6 on the Triple J Unearthed Hip-Hop charts last year and was praised by Triple J Presenter Declan Byrne and Unearthed director Dave Ruby Howe for his high energy and confidence behind a beat.

Question: How would you describe your music?

Alex Parkman: My music is fun, energetic and most importantly original!


Question: What inspired King of the Block?

Alex Parkman: My inspiration for this single was my desire to want it all. I also wanted a fun energetic track that when I perform it on stage; will instantly get a crowd going.


Question: Can you tell us about the music video? What motivates you most when writing music?

Alex Parkman: The music video pretty much is a turn up fest with me and my friends. We spent like a week shooting it but it was super fun to do and the results came out great. We show at a golf course, a photo studio as well as getting some scenes in my hometown Perth, Western Australia. You can see we're all just having fun in it. My motivations in writing music are the ability it has to always express my many different moods.


Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Alex Parkman: Drake, Juice Wrld and MadeinTYO.


Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Alex Parkman: I would say Travis Scott and Drake. Those dudes changed it all for me. They inspired a whole generation of rappers to pressure their dreams; including myself.


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Alex Parkman: Drake, the dude has been my favourite artist since 'Thank Me Later' came out.


Question: What's a typical day like?

Alex Parkman: Right now, I'm either at work, sending out emails or making music. I sometimes find time to sleep (laughs).

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Alex Parkman: The respect I've been given from fans. I wasn't cool or anything in high school and not a lot of people even noticed me. That's all changed now thanks to the music.


Question: Can you tell us 5 things required for a happy healthy and enjoyable life?

Alex Parkman: Family, friends, exercise, a good mental state of mind and being financially stable.
