Question: Who and what are you most looking forward to at the Melbourne Guitar Show?
Anna Scionti: I can't wait to check out what's new in the guitar world. I feel honoured to be a part of such a great line up of artists. I'll be trying to catch as many performances as I can, it's going to be a fantastic couple of days!
Question: Can you share your earliest guitar memory, with us?
Anna Scionti: One great memory was seeing BB King play live in Melbourne, what a show!
Question: What originally inspired you to begin playing the guitar?
Anna Scionti: My first instrument I played was the drums which I just loved; I had some friends who played guitar so as a teenager I started learning and jamming. A guitar is much more portable than a drum kit!
Question: What advice do you have for young aspiring guitarist?
Anna Scionti: Persistence is the key, play a little bit each day if you can. Find your favourite song and learn it, then find another and learn it. Have fun!
Question: What music and musicians are you currently listening to?
Anna Scionti: I mainly listen to blues and roots, old and new… Lately the new Ry Cooder album, Seasick Steve, Towns Van Zant, Larkin Poe, Lucinda Williams, Junior Wells, Muddy Waters and Big Mama Thornton.
Question: Who would you say has been your guitar hero?
Anna Scionti: From me it's always been about the songwriters, Ben Harper playing Lap Steel probably had a big influence on me. I loved his songwriting and guitar playing and purchased my first lap steel guitar because of him.
Question: Which is your all-time favourite guitar and why?
Anna Scionti: This is a difficult one as I have a few favourites currently; my favourite electric guitar is my Gibson Melody Maker from the 60's.
My favourite Cigar Box Guitar is my hand made (one string) Diddley Bow named 'Three', it comes with me to most shows and has a sound of its own!
Question: What's next, for you?
Anna Scionti: I'll be heading back into the studio this spring to record another album.
