Bailey Rodrigues Are You Down? Interview

I'm Making Moves to Are You Down?

Gold Coast native Bailey Rodrigues is back in the spotlight with his new single 'Are You Down?' available on all streaming platforms 26th of June. 'Are You Down?' is the fourth offering from Bailey and is the follow up from his successful single 'I'm Making Moves' earlier in May which saw numerous Spotify editorial additions and a building fan base.

Inspired by the production lead by 'Secret Stash', Bailey showed his versatility in writing melodies while working on 'Are You Down?', and it shows, as he incorporates his emotions to paint a picture for a time in his life where he's left with frustration and questions. He hopes that his new found following will be inspired to face their fears and approach their insecurities after listening to this offering.

Growing up to Eminem and heavily influenced by G-Eazy, Jcole, and Cal Scruby, Bailey has found himself immersed in the Gold Coast HipHop scene which has quickly become a new location for emerging talent. After additions in Spotify's "Beats n Bars" and "The Drip" playlist', Bailey is energized and ready to deliver a very productive 2019.

"I want people to feel inspired and face their fears by chasing their dreams and never settling for something that doesn't make them happy." - Bailey on his music

Interview with Bailey Rodrigues

Question: How would you describe your music?

Bailey Rodrigues: I'm still finding my identity in music and what kind of artist I will be but I always strive to keep it honest, motivational and positive.

Question: What inspired the track Are You Down?

Bailey Rodrigues: I was feeling like there was some fake people in my life that had other motives and didn't really have my back and this song was a way for me to express my frustrations.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Bailey Rodrigues: I want to make this world a better place by doing what I love and every time I make music I'm one step closer to that goal so that is what motivates me to keep going.

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Bailey Rodrigues: My song "I'm Making Moves" because it's a hit, it gets the people going and having a good time, it's always fun.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Bailey Rodrigues: G-Eazy.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Bailey Rodrigues: I'm an introverted person at heart so it would depend on what mood I'm in. If I want to be alone definitely recording but if I'm feeling extroverted I would love nothing more than to perform live and party.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Bailey Rodrigues: JCole, G-Eazy and Cal Scruby have been repeating in my headphones lately.

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Bailey Rodrigues: I met G-Eazy backstage at one of his shows in 2016 and it blew my mind after that I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Bailey Rodrigues: No surprise here, G-Eazy.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Bailey Rodrigues: Not caring what other people think, and putting my happiness first.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Bailey Rodrigues: Usually I work in the mornings and then I'll listen to beats and record all afternoon/night if I'm feeling inspired. Throw in some video games after that and that's basically a typical day for me.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Bailey Rodrigues: Connecting with people and getting messages from them saying my music has helped them through a tough time in their life that's what it's all about.
