Healthy Tips

ARE YOU DRINKING ENOUGH WATER?

We often hear about what we should eat to stay healthy, but one thing we need even more than food each day - water. We all seem to know the importance of drinking enough water during the hot summer months but what many people don't realise is they need to drink plenty of water all year round.

Did you know that every part of your body needs water to function properly? Water is particularly important for keeping the kidneys healthy. Dehydration (lack of water) is one of the reasons why people develop kidney stones.

Sometimes when you get tired, it is often because you can be dehydrated!

And thinking that you are getting enough water in your tea or coffee is false! These drinks act as diuretics (rid your body of fluid) So make sure you drink water to replace fluid when you know you have had a cuppa!

Sometimes when females get their periods they retain more fluid. If you think drinking less water will help you to rid the fluid built up, well....sorry WRONG! You need to actually drink water to let your body to release what it is holding! This is often because your body has a build up of Sodium. So you need to drink more water to help flush the Sodium out! Otherwise your body ends up hanging on even harder to what it is already storing!

BAD POSTURE CAN LEAD TO LOT'S OF NASTIES!

You can slouch, waddle, be a pelvic thruster, strutt with your chin out, leave your bum behind you or stick out that chest. There are many variations of posture and the way some people walk can be quite comical (to the rest of us!)

Unfortunately not taking care of how you hold yourself can be detrimental to your health and body. You can place undue stress on your lumbar spine, cause yourself to have breathing difficulties, upper back pain, neck pain caused by spinal compression, weakened abdominal muscles and headaches.
So take heed: STAND UP STRAIGHT!

POLLUTION IS BAD FOR YOUR SKIN!

Did you know that pollution can be really bad for your skin? The airborne pollution we walk through every day may have a similar effect on your skin as cigarette smoke - depriving the skin of oxygen and creating harmful free radicals! Dermatologists now recommend that people use a moisturiser that not only contains a high SPF for UV protection, but also one that contains anti-oxidants to help eat up those nasty stray free radicals!

SO START NOW, you are never too young or old to start protecting your skin!

SUPER FOODS FOR SUPER HEALTH

We all hear about how we should try to include more leafy green vegies and a variation of fruits in our diet to help achieve optimal health. A lot of people unfortunately do not favour the flavour of fruit and vegies. If you can't handle eating them because you don't like the taste or perhaps you don't have these foods in your house or your parents house (Naughty!) at least try to have these five super foods every now and again: BROCCOLI, APRICOTS, ONIONS, SWEET POTATOES and BLUEBERRIES. These five foods help lower the risks of or help control: cancer, stroke, high choleserol, asthma, diabetes, anaemia, high blood pressure and help relieve constipation.
EAT UP!
