Eat Healthy This Winter!

As we start to shiver as we face the onset of winter, have no fear....Winter can still be fun! Just don't get too cold and avoid getting sick ....if you can!

Try to eat lots of healthy foods, jam packed full of vitamins and minerals. A healthy diet will help keep your immune system stay at its strongest which in turn, will help you fight off those winter colds and flu's.

Lots of fruits and vegetables, wholegrain cereals and extra vitamins in the form of a multivitamin, will aid the fight against disease and bacteria.

For a more interesting approach try making yummy soups full of vegies. Or eat meals like quiches, casseroles or dishes where the vegetables are cooked into them.

Remember, prevention is the best medicine!

Studies of certain herbs have shown that Echinacea can help you recover from a cold more quickly, so make sure you or your parents have some on standby in the pantry or medicine cabinet. Echinacea helps stimulate the immune system and can work for you in two ways either as a preventative herb or to help you recover if you do get sick. When taken in larger doses when you are ill, Echinacea can help you feel stronger and more able to cope with the cold.

Always read the labels properly on any kind of medicinal herb and take as prescribed. And make sure you get the right advice from a naturopath, herbalist or doctor.
