Recently making history as the first ever First Nations recipient of the prestigious CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Exchange, Nathan Lamont unveils his vulnerable new single 'What Comes After'.
The single follows on from 'Bigger Things', which clocked over 400,000 streams, reached #42 on the CountryTown Hot 50 airplay chart, hit #44 on the UK iTunes Country Charts, and was added to editorial playlists across Spotify (Fresh Country, Heaps Country) and Apple Music (Aussie Country, Lil Bit Country, All New Country, Today's Country, New Music Daily, and Country Risers).
'What Comes After' is a slick country-pop ballad that packs a powerful emotional punch, showcasing a new side to the singer whose loved-up bops and stunning vocals have already racked up over 1.8 million global streams.
Written alongside longtime friend and former bandmate Rhianna Goldstein, 'What Comes After' marks a sonic shift for Nathan, one that doesn't shy away from the hard stuff.
"This song was born out of real-life experiences, both ours and those around us. For me personally, it's deeply tied to moments in my relationship with my wife, moments where we stood right on the edge of walking away," admits Nathan.
"It's about choosing to fight for love when it would be easier to give up. It's about pushing past the pride, digging into the memories of how it all began, and holding onto the belief that the story isn't over yet."
Nathan brought the track to life with the help of Michael Paynter and Michael De Lorenzis of MSquared Productions, who immediately recognised the heart behind the demo.
"When I arrived at the studio with MSquared, I sent through a handful of rough voice memos the morning of our session. Out of everything, they gravitated straight toward 'What Comes After'. Together, we refined the structure, made some key lyrical and musical inclusions, and elevated what was already there without losing the raw emotion behind it."
Testament to Wiradjuri singer's captivating artistry is his receival of the prestigious CMAA Sister Cities Nashville Exchange. The opportunity will see Nathan connect with international producers, songwriters and industry leaders in Nashville, and continue forging a path that blends strong storytelling with his signature heart-on-sleeve delivery.
With slots at Gympie Music Muster on the horizon and Heartbeat of the Hunter in September, Nathan's set for a busy back half to 2025. This month he'll also perform for the first time at the Fiddler's 'Boots N Beats'.
With a voice that turns heads and songs that hit home, Nathan Lamont continues to prove he's one to watch, and with 'What Comes After', he reminds us that real strength lies in showing heart.
