Riley Pearce Announces New Album 'The Weight Of Our Dreaming' + Shares New Single 'You Won't Be There'

Indie-folk singer-songwriter Riley Pearce dives deep into burnout and the highs and lows of chasing a lifelong dream while soaking in his current season of life as a young father on his forthcoming album The Weight of Our Dreaming, out October 31 via Nettwerk. Alongside the announcement, Riley unveils new single, "You Won't Be There" – a quietly devastating reflection on the tension between life on the road and the loved ones left at home.

His third full-length record – and the follow-up to 2024's It's Your Turn NowThe Weight of Our Dreaming is Riley's most vulnerable and self-assured work to date. Written during a period of intense burnout and disillusionment, the album wrestles with the shifting role of music in his life, the evolving pressure of the industry, and the bittersweet reality of building a family while still chasing creative ambition.

"This album is about the feeling of everything slipping away, the weight of greater responsibilities, and the higher stakes," Riley shares. "But it also celebrates a newfound passion and an unshakable faith that this dream is a beautiful and essential part of my life."

From the atmospheric grit of "Like A River" to the quiet defiance of "Magnets," the record traces the arc of an artist rediscovering why he fell in love with songwriting in the first place. It's atmospheric, alt-folk soundscape – at times raw and gritty, and at other moments determined and uplifting – was once again, co-produced with longtime collaborator Andy Lawson, and while most of the album is performed by Riley himself, you will also find collaborations with Grammy Award-winner Lucky Oceans on pedal steel, and Scottish singer-songwriter Rosie H. Sullivan.

New single "You Won't Be There" sits at the centre of it all – that tug-of-war between chasing a dream and being there for the people who matter most, asking "how do you hold space for two dreams at once?"

"I keep coming back to how being away from home feels now and all the moments missed. Time differences make geographical distances feel larger. With two young girls back home, all I want is to end my day sharing stories,"
Riley reflects. "The road gets lonely, and even though technology brings with it parts that make that less so, both my wife and I are having two different but equally hectic days that amplifies the lack of each other being there when we need them."

The Weight of Our Dreaming
is both a surrender and a rallying cry – an album that doesn't shy away from the cracks, but never loses sight of the 'why' that kickstarted it all.
