"Stop overthinking 'cause you're wasting time" – the opening line sets the tone immediately: let go, don't overthink. On their new single ROYA channels a carefree energy to remind everyone that no matter if you go left or right, you will end up where you're supposed to be.
The sound sits somewhere between dreamlike tunnel vision "In my dreams, I get tunnel vision / You're all I see, yeah we're all mapped out") and playful chaos, floating effortlessly between uplifting and unmistakably distinct. Remarkable electronics meet house-infused basslines, while angelic backing vocals soar over ROYA's striking lead lines – a sonic landscape that feels both free and moving, without ever losing intimacy.
Line explains: "It's a song you want to shout at the night sky, with your friends under each arm, high on life and freedom, reminding each other to stop overthinking and be present." Sebastian adds: "The song is just as much for ourselves as it is for anyone else. It's so easy to overanalyze everything, so 'Left/Right' is also our way of reminding ourselves to trust the process."
Since February, Line and Sebastian have been inviting people into their songwriting process of 'Left / Right', teasing the track on social media, including a custom-developed "Spinning Wheel" filter that lets chance decide your direction – perfectly in line with the song's spirit. The idea of choosing Left or Right became a playful principle, inviting fans to take part in the creative journey. The band even embraced the concept literally, spontaneously booking flights to random destinations and making the followers and the spinning wheel decide where to go and make a live session. Embracing destiny and the will of the spinning wheel they ended up on the other side of the world, 16.500 kilometers from home in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. The live performance of the track will drop on YouTube alongside the single release.
Following "Just Talk", which reached millions even before release and their winter reinterpretation of their viral song "Cruise", ROYA continues their evolution with "Left / Right" – once again striking a milestone at the intersection of electronic pop, playful energy, and dreamy escapism. In June, ROYA will embark on a European summer tour, followed by a North American tour, before returning to their home country of Denmark to play their biggest homecoming concerts to date.
