Ruby Rose in People Potts Point

Ruby Rose in People Potts Point
Ruby Rose awoke a few shades lighter this week but it was no mysterious phenomenon; this was the handy-work of her favourite hairdresser, PEOPLE Potts Point.

Creative Director, Hamish Glianos and Ruby's Colour Technician, Jessie Burkitt, had the pleasure of making her over once again and just in time for the launch of her new TV show, Ultimate Music School: Fame airing on Foxtel. Ruby announced the news via Twitter - "Oops.. I just woke up as a blonde!"

"Like the chameleon that she is, Ruby came in on Monday and was ready for a new look. We'd been talking about something radical for months but her media commitments haven't allowed it. Ruby wanted something completely new and so we decided blonde it was and she looks incredible!" says Hamish

Ruby has become renowned for her impulsive hair changes and is often linked stylistically to Rhianna, who is also well-known for her edgy, rock-style and penchant for incredible hair transformations. Ruby's new look certainly ups the ante in the international style wars.

"The process of going "bleach" blonde is a long one to do correctly so she was in the seat a while but once done, the contrast to her usual dark tone looked awesome." says Jessie. "We love having clients like her; she pushes the boundaries with her look, allowing us the freedom to be creative. She's become quite the style icon and if this makeover convinces more people to do the Agyness, then we're all for it!" says colourist, Jessie.

PEOPLE Hairdressing, established in March 2009 will open the doors to a second salon in Surry Hills next month marking a huge initial growth in the business, despite tougher economic times.

"PEOPLE Surry Hills will be our first concept salon after the Potts Point flagship and is a hugely exciting project. The salon itself has strong ties to the local community and will encapsulate everything Surry Hills' is about; art, culture, people, food, music, fashion. The area is creative nucleus and we want to be involved in that. The line between art, as it's known, and hair styling - an art-form in its own right - is too prominent and we'd like to experiment and see if we can't break it down." says Hamish.

PEOPLE Surry Hills opens officially on Saturday 7 November and will run as a full-service hair salon and a gallery space where local and international artists, musicians and designers will be able to exhibit their work.
