This is the backdrop for our season of selected Australian documentaries which have caused something of a stir, which includes an investigation into paedophilia and the art world in A Loving Friend, a look at the Melbourne punk scene of the 70s & 80s while We're Ling on Dog Food, the rediscovery of a banned 70s documentary by Australian filmmaker Philippe Mora, Swastika, as well as an opportunity to see just what all the fuss was about in The 10 Conditions of Love.'

Booking: | (03) 9533 8083 or Redstitch.net |
Red Stitch Actors Theatre presents the Australian and English language premiere of The Gronholm Method by Catalonian writer Jordi Galceran Ferrer. His internationally successful Spanishlanguage play El Método is a strange, absurdly funny and timely look at human behaviour. It poses the questions: How far would you go to get what you want; how much humiliation could you stand and to what lengths would you go to destroy the competition?
The Gronholm Method pushes applicants at an 'interview' to see how far they are willing to risk their self respect in order to secure a highly paid multi-national sales executive position. Through a series of mysterious promptings, what-if scenarios and increasingly bizarre tests, the applicants become increasingly paranoid and desperate. Under this claustrophobic climate of distrust and lack of scruples, alliances are created, feuds foment, secrets are revealed, and, one by one, the candidates are eliminated in a cold struggle for survival. |

Me & Jezebel is the hilarious true story of how Bette Davis invited herself over for a night and stayed, uninvited, for thirty-two days - turning Elizabeth Fuller's home and family life upside down, and inside out!
The story shows that Davis thrives on confrontation and high tension, and that she is only truly happy when she is stirring things up and dominating the lives of the Fullers - especially Elizabeth who is desperate to form a real friendship with her idol and loses touch with reality. Muggleton plays all roles in Me & Jezebel, including the forthright and intense Bette Davis, reluctant hostess Elizabeth, frustrated husband John, impressionable son Christopher, grandmother Ol' Ma and singing evangelist Grace. |

Paranormal Activity |
Paranormal Activity scares up the biggest opening for a horror film this century!
Paranormal Activity has scared up a huge opening weekend result, the biggest for any horror film since The Blair Witch Project, back in 1999. As its local box office exceeds $2.7 million, Paranormal Activity also holds the record for the second biggest horror film opening of all time in Australia. Leaving other horror films such as Scream2 and Saw3 in its wake, Paranormal Activity is the little film that could. Made on a shoestring budget of $15,000, the indie horror has become a worldwide success, smashing box office records and grossing more than $114 million. Paranormal Activity follows the movements of a young, middle class couple who become increasingly disturbed by a presence in their seemingly typical suburban house. The presence may or may not be demonic, but it is most active at night, when the couple attempt to sleep. Paranormal Activity is in cinemas now. Experience it for yourself. |

Focus on Claudia Cardinale |
Venue: | ACMI, Federation Square, Melbourne |
Date: | 'Fri 19 Feb - Sun 28 Feb' |
The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) pays tribute to the amazing five-decade career of Italian screen siren Claudia Cardinale with Focus on Claudia Cardinale this February. This film season shines a spotlight on the muse of the most renowned filmmakers of the last century including Sergio Leone, Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti.
Deservedly famed for her sultry beauty, Cardinale, emerged in the wake of Italian actress Sophia Loren and was touted as Italy's answer to Brigitte Bardot who herself famously remarked: "I already know who's destined to take my place. There can be only one, and one alone. After BB comes CC, no?".
Cardinale, however, was never purely reliant on her looks and proved herself time and again to be an incredibly talented and versatile actress. The high quality of her body of work is reflected in Focus on Claudia Cardinale, from the rarely screened The Girl in Australia (1971) to Sergio Leone's epic masterpiece Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) which screens fully restored, complete and uncut in this season. |
