Australian Book Review seeks applications for the ABR Sidney Myer Fund Fellowship.

This Fellowship - the third to be offered by ABR - is proudly supported by the Sidney Myer Fund.

We are seeking a substantial article with an Indigenous focus - either a profile of a major Indigenous literary/cultural figure or a discursive essay with Indigenous literary/cultural themes.

The Fellowship is worth $5000.

Any Australian writer with a significant publication record(books, creative writing, essays or journalism) is eligible to apply.

The ABR Fellowships are intended to reward outstanding Australian writers, to enhance ABR through the publication of major works of literary journalism, and to advance the magazine's commitment to critical debate.

This school holidays, from 4 until 6 October, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) combine to present the film Peter and the Wolf, with Prokofiev's magical music played live in the cinema by the MSO. Each event will also include a discussion of the animation style and main musical themes used in the film.

Peter and the Wolf, produced by BreakThru Films, is the Academy Award-winning new animated film version of Prokofiev's children's classic and is directed by the extraordinary animation talent, Suzie Templeton.
