The Strand Arcade is excited to host a show by Akira which is open to the public - a first in a number of seasons. Akira has received international recognition for his contemporary designs, which are sought after by influential boutiques throughout the world.
The Resort 12 Collection has already impressed fashion critics and buyers with deserved praise for Akira's translation of fabrics to soft and romantic silhouettes. Akira will present around 20 looks inspired by contemporary Japanese aesthetic from the collection, which is available in store at the Strand Arcade from October.
The Strand Arcade will take their Designer Series from lunch to dinner for the first time at this landmark showing. Guests will be seated around a runway on the ground floor to enjoy the show featuring Akira's latest collection over a gourmet experience.

2011 Chambord Shine Awards |
Tali Roth, Saint Augustine Academy, Elliot Ward-Fear, Tato & Memi and An Ode to No One have been chosen as the five finalists to compete for a retail
partnership with high street fashion retailer, Seduce.
The five finalists have been awarded $1000 and five weeks to create two cocktail dresses inspired by the quintessential Chambord woman who shops at Seduce. One of the largest queer film festivals in the world, the MQFF screens challenging and entertaining queer-themed films at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and Greater Union over 11 days in mad March. From international hits of the festival circuit to a strong program of Australian films - queer is celebrated and explored in all its forms.
Special international guests this year include; Wayne Mack, producer of the documentary Kink Crusaders about the annual Mr Leather competition in the US; plus there's Jesse Archer, director of the short film Half Share and star of the film Going Down in LA LA Land which is based on the laugh-out-loud novel by Andy Zeffer; US director Devin Kordt-Thomas will be here with his short film My Night With Andrew Cunanan which is based on the Versace murderer; and writer/producer Glenn Gaylord brings us the closing night film Leave it on the Floor. |
