The Force is strong with Eric (Sam Huntington), Linus (Chris Marquette), Hutch (Dan Fogler) and Windows (Jay Baruchel), Star Wars fans since childhood. On Halloween night 1998, six months out from the release of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, they hatch a plan to drive cross-country (in Hutch's Millennium Falcon-style, Star Wars-detailed van) to break into George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch and see a rough cut of the film. Along the way, they recruit a fangirl, Zoe (Kristen Bell, TV's Veronica Mars) and score a hot tip from Harry Ain't It Cool News Knowles (Ethan Su plee, from My Name Is Earl) that leads them to a Deep Throat at a Star Trek convention in Vegas. Told with unflinching nerd pride, Kyle Newman's thoroughly good-natured paean to fans and fandom co-stars Seth Rogen and features cameos by Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin Smith and William Shatner. 'Glories in its devotion to the pop culture phenomenon that is Star Wars . the definitive tribute to a generation of sci-fi nerd!' The Chicago Maroon. Following their performance at the sold out 2009 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, The Chooky Dancers will come to Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Melbourne Museum for two exclusive shows.

The Chooky Dancers are a group of young Indigenous men from Elcho Island, Northern Territory, who shot to international fame after their contemporary dance version of ?Zorba the Greek? was posted on YouTube. The dance, which combines contemporary and traditional Indigenous styles, was created by Lionel Dulmanawuy and filmed when the group performed it for their Yolngu Indigenous Clan. Within 12 weeks of being posted on YouTube the clip had been viewed more than 500,000 times. Today it has been seen by more than one million viewers worldwide.

The group has now performed the dance all over Australia, including at the 2009 Sydney Festival and The Dreaming Festival and Out of the Box Festival in Brisbane, as well as on Channel Seven?s Australia?s Got Talent. The Chooky Dancers are even set to visit Greece soon where their dance on YouTube has generated a buzz in many towns.

?Bunjilaka is so excited to have the opportunity to host this group of talented young men all the way from Arnhem Land?, says Caroline Martin, Manager, Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre. ?The story behind the Zorba performance is equally as inspiring as these wonderful performers and the response from our Koorie community and the general public has been absolutely amazing.?

Lionel was inspired to create the dance by his very good Greek friend Liliane, who for a time helped care for his disabled sister in Darwin before returning to Greece. The relationship between the Yolngu family and Liliane?s Greek family was the main inspiration behind the dance and is a way of saying thank you to Liliane.

An Evening with the Chooky Dancers is proudly presented by Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Melbourne Museum in partnership with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Dita Von Teese has put Burlesque back on the map and now Ruby Rabbit is bringing the razzle and dazzle to the local stage with Burlesque Follies , being held in the glamorous De Nom next Thursday 7th May.

Traditional burlesque hit the bright lights of New York stages in the late 1860 s, both shocking and enthralling the public with acts of striptease, comedy, cabaret and revealing costumes that were considered highly controversial for its time. Today s burlesque revival is the latest craze with celebrity figures such as Lindsay Lohan and Christina Aguilera and is now thriving in trendy bars and clubs all around the world.

Burlesque queen Rachel St James will be performing live from her over-sized champagne glass with an entourage of duelling magicians. Guests are invited to recline in the plush velvets under the warm chandelier glow of De Nom for this stunning and mystical performance.

Rachel St James is fast becoming a brand name to be remembered, having performed in Johnny Depp's famous Parisian nightclub, Le Mandalray and headlined The Indy Ball. The Pajama Men

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival s most prestigious annual award, the Barry Award, was awarded early this morning at the Festival Club to The Pajama Men (USA), also known as Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez and their musical accomplice Luminous Craft, for their show Versus Vs. Versus.

The Barry Award, named after Barry Humphries, the first patron of the Festival, recognises the Comedy Festival s Most Outstanding Festival Show, specifically aiming to seek out those performers who are enhancing the art form of comedy and acknowledging

The Pajama Men will join the company of past Barry Award winners including Kristen Schaal and Nina Conti (tied winners of 2008), Daniel Kitson (2007), Demetri Martin (2006), Keating! The Opera (2005), Maria Bamford (2004), Mike Wilmot (2003), Ross Noble (2002), Brian Munich & Friends (2001) and The Mighty Boosh (2000).

Likened to Monty Python on LSD and described as massively inventive, wet your pants funny The Pajama Men aka Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez (who yes, before you ask, do wear pajamas on stage) are known for split second character switches and weaving together multiple storylines at high speeds.

The Pajama Men were a tremendous hit at the 2008 Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, grabbing attention from industry and critics alike including five stars from The London Times. Playing to sold-out houses with a demand for extra performances, their show Versus Vs. Versus was cemented as one of 2008 s biggest crowd-pleasers.

The Pajama Men s unhinged, original comedy relies heavily on physical theatre in an intellectual way. Critics are often in awe how the duo need no more than two sets of pajamas to act out their bizarre menagerie of characters.

Charles Kingsford Smith and Those Magnificent Men by Peter FitzSimons:

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith is one of Australia s most loved legends.

In an action-packed life the indomitable Smithy went from fighting as a soldier among the carnage of Gallipoli and the Western Front, to taking to the skies against the likes of the Red Baron where he won the Military Cross for gallantry before becoming the greatest peacetime aviator of his generation.

Along with Charles Ulm, he was the first man to conquer the Pacific by air, the first to fly across the Tasman Sea, the fastest man to fly from England to Australia and the first pilot to circumnavigate the globe by crossing the equator.

Beyond Smithy, however, FitzSimons captures with typical flair how, in just 66 extraordinary years, aviation went from just a few feet off the ground to one foot on the moon. He tells the story of the breakthrough in Australia in 1894 which laid the foundation for the Wright brothers getting off the ground in 1903; the first flight across the Channel in 1908; Germany s Red Baron terrorising the Allies in 1917-18 before being shot down by an Australian; Ross and Keith Smith being the first to fly from England to Australia in 1919; the formation of Qantas in 1921; Lindbergh s stunning vault between America and Europe in 1927; the Great Centenary Air Race, the loss of the Southern Cloud; the saga of Bert Hinkler and much, much, more . . .

Written by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright Lee Blessing, The Store Room's production of Chesapeake marks the first ever staging of Blessing's work in Australia.

Art. Politics. Dogs.

Chesapeake is a magical tale about a bisexual performance artist from New York, a conservative Southern politician and a dog that unites their fates forever. It's a one-man play about the role of the arts and rolls in the dirt. Bringing Blessing's trenchantly funny, agitprop romp to the stage are actor Alan Brough and director Todd MacDonald.

Bastardy

Venue:Kino Cinemas, 45 Collins Street Melbourne
Date:'Thursday 25 June'
Time:6.30pm
Kino Cinemas presents a special opening night screening of Bastardy plus Q&A with Aboriginal elder, actor, cat burglar, junkie and documentary subject Jack Charles, Filmmaker Amiel Courtin-Wilson, Hosted by John Safran.

For forty years and with infectious humour and optimism, Jack Charles has juggled a life of crime with another successful career - acting.

Since founding the first Aboriginal theatre company in the 1970's, Jack has performed with Australia's most renowned actors (Geoffrey Rush, David Gulpillil, Bill Hunter) and directors in feature films (The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, Bedevil) TV series and hundreds of plays.

Filmmaker Amiel Courtin-Wilson follows Jack over seven years - gradually blurring the line between director and accomplice as Jack continually traverses the criminal and acting worlds.

Pledge to Try Veg is the theme of this year's Week and Australians are being encouraged to make a pledge either to try a plant-based meal, increase their plant based meals or commit to eating vegetarian for the week by visiting Vegetarianweek.com.au.

For every pledge, one dollar will be donated to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to help fund research into protecting it threats such as rising water temperatures and water acidification. If left unchecked, such issues could cause major problems such as coral bleaching and damage to reef ecosystems.

An impressive line-up of celebrities including Sami Lukis, Brett Lee and Stephanie Gilmour is supporting us by making a Pledge to Try Veg to boost awareness of the health benefits of plant based foods, the effect of meat consumption on the environment, and to raise vital funds to help save the Great Barrier Reef from destruction due to climate change.
