Bjork Album
Björk releases new solo album "VESPERTINE"

Following the success last year of her debut acting role in the Lars Vin Trier film Dancer in the Dark, for which she received numerous accolades including an Oscar nomination and the Palm D'or for Best Actress at Cannes, and the release of her soundtrack album "SelmaSongs", Icelandic singer Björk releases her new studio album "VERSPERTINE".

"VESPERTINE": the follow up to 1997's "Homogenic" means relating to the evening and is Björk's first self-produced album comprising 12 intricately crafted songs which show a new found maturity and independence andfeature some familiar collaborators such as Guy Sigsworth. Marius DeVries, Mark 'Spike' Stent and Vince Mendoza and the newer names of Matmos, Matther Herbert, Zeena Parkins and Thomas Knak to name a few. Björk originally put the songs together on her laptop and each encompasses a different range of emotions and feature the magical sounds of harp, celest, clavichord, music box and choir.

Björk has already started work with Nick Knight and also, for the first time video director Eiko Ishioka, on a series of videos which will be released throughout the album campaign each of which provides a unique visually stunning accompaniment for the song and each of which is as innovative as the next.

Album artwork is provided by the revered French artists/designers M+M and features a series of line drawings and an etching of the (by now) infamous swan which made it's first appearance with Björk at this years Oscars ceremony (!)

Björk is currently also working on a number of other projects which will be released at some point in the future. These include a recording with renowned spiritual composer John Taverner called "Prayer For The Heart" and further recordings with longtime associates The Brodsky Quartet.

Following the huge success of her low key Riverside Church Concert last month in Brooklyn, New York, Björk is rehearsing her live set and plans to perform at a number of unusual venues around the world later this year. In keeping with Björk's ground-breaking initiative, a few of these venues have never previously been used for traditional rock/pop concerts. Full tour dates to be announced shortly...
