"Each village specialises in a different trade or craft."

The skilled artisans are mostly women, and range from school leavers to mature aged women who have the choice of working from home or in established workshops. "Our business practices have a real sense of community about them, as the embroidery and beading skills get passed down from grandmothers to mothers and then to the daughters. This makes our contribution ongoing." And with most Luella Blue products hand made and not the result of mass production, the level of greenhouse gases emitted are also reduced.
