In this state of inebriation she declares the wedding off. What she doesn t see is Louise nursing two broken finger-tips and Karen desperately begging her random shag for something more than one night. Donna confronts Karl the next day and tells him she doesn t want to marry him, knowing that he ll be reasonable. He responds by begging Donna not to leave him, and running into the kitchen wall. The news that the wedding is off is disastrously announced at Donna and Karl s pre-wedding luncheon, presided over by Karl s intimidating mother and attended by their closest family and friends. Thoroughly humiliated and with nowhere else to go, Donna turns up at Karen and Louise s with everything she owns in bin-bags, and Karen clears out the windowless dump room for her. With the revival of the domestic goddess and everything vintage or retro-inspired deemed 'oh so trendy' at the moment, aprons are back in a big way. Embroidered, lacy, patched, pleated, buttoned and beaded, they're coming out of the kitchen drawer and flirting with fashion. Launched at Craftfest in Sydney, the Great Apron Challenge is now bound for the Gold Coast.

The Great Apron Challenge is open to all who want to have a bit of fun making an apron! From a range of materials and products supplied by exhibitors, you'll have one hour in the 'Sew & Show Room' to whip-up your apron with sewing machines supplied by Bernina before parading it on the catwalk in front of a panel of judges.

Before you get behind the sewing machine, you'll have the opportunity to draw inspiration from a display of aprons created by our crafty exhibitors. All of which will be auctioned off at the final Craftfest for 2009 in Melbourne with proceeds raised going to charity.

The Great Apron Challenge will take place three times daily with three finalists announced each day.

One lucky winner will walk away with a brand new Bernina sewing machine. So, if you have ever wondered what it's like to be a part of a challenge like Project Runway, then this is your big chance.

If sewing isn't quite your thing, there's plenty of other crafts to get involved in and excited about at Craftfest. And with so much expert tuition on offer, you'll walk away from Craftfest a much wiser DIY diva. Get expert instruction and stock up on the latest products and tools to start making one-of-a-kind creations. Get busy making your own personalised papercrafts and scrapbook albums in Fiskars Paper Inspiration; draw motivation from the interactive feature displays; improve your skills in 'Make & Take' classes and get expert advice in FREE seminars and stage presentations.

As a key component of the project, pioneers of the Digitales movement in Australia, the Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE), in conjunction with the University of Western Sydney (UWS) and Fairfield City Council (FCC) ran intensive workshops with specialist Digitales trainers to enable the young filmmakers tell their digital stories.

Royal Exhibition Building Archaeology Project Open Day

Venue:Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton Gardens
Date:'Saturday 14 November '
Time:10am to 3pm
Fee:FREE
The Open Day will offer the public the opportunity to walk through a real-life archaeological dig and meet the experts involved in the project. Visitors will also get the chance to see artefacts uncovered from the dig.

The archaeological dig is the first phase of a major project to restore gardens to the western forecourt of the Royal Exhibition Building, an area that until very recently was an unsightly asphalt car park. Funded by the Victorian Government, this three phase project, which began in October, will include the installation of an extensive water harvesting and storage system, including a 900,000 litre underground water tank, which will ensure a sustainable future for this much-loved Melbourne landmark.

In the final phase, gardens and landscaping based on the original 1880s design will be restored to this important World Heritage site.

The archaeological exploration of the site currently underway will search for traces of the historic garden beds and other original features. The dig, which is being conducted in partnership with Godden Mackay Logan (GML) and La Trobe University, will include analysis of soil for traces of seeds and pollen that will help identify plants that might have been part of the original nineteenth century garden design.
