Dear Dr Dejour,
I am a virgin and I really want to have sex but I can't find anyone I would like to do it with. I was also wondering if masturbation is wrong? I don't do it, but I think about it a lot. What should I do?

Although not something we talk to our mothers about, masturbation is something that most (if not all) of us do. Sexual 'appetite' is a fundamental drive that like thirst and hunger does not go away. Having sex by yourself is certainly a better idea (and I think all the mothers would agree with this) than having sex with someone you do not love. It helps you discover what you really enjoy and that means that you only have sex in ways that you feel comfortable with. I cannot comment on specific religious aspects, and different people have different opinions on this matter.
But I would say, just quietly, enjoy!
