Dr Girl/Dr Dejour Q&A

Dr Girl/Dr Dejour Q&A
Dear Dr Dejour,

I have "knocked knees" - my knees are really close together. I get teased at school and it looks really bad. I get embarrassed wearing my school dress and when I wear skirts or shorts. What can I do?

Signed Knocked Knees.

Dear Miss Knocked,

What can you do? How about a crazy hairdo so you can say 'my knees, well they're nothing compared to my hair!' Or 'my knees, blimy that's just the start, can you see this mole, erghhhhh!' The thing is that if it weren't your knees, they'd find something else.

If your knees get sore or interfere with physical activity it is important to see a doctor as a few people with an extreme version of the Knocked Knees, need an operation to realign them. These are few though among a sea of young people with a variation on the perfectly straight model (rare is the perfect person and not usually worth a conversation).

You'll notice it less over time as the muscle of your legs develops. And probably learn to love them. ('Yes got them from my Mum'). I personally have my father's ears and although impractical for certain hairstyles, they're company in lonely moments (I wasn't brave enough to do the counter ploy about the mole, I just got older and by then other problems made my ears seem small - which they are NOT!).

Dr Dejour.
