Little Scout Are You Life

Australian band Little Scout has completed work on their second record, Are You Life, due out in September 2013. Self-produced and recorded at various locations in their hometown of Brisbane, the record reflects the more muscular, distorted sounds that the band has developed in their live show since the release of their critically acclaimed debut, Take Your Light (2011).

Mixed by Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids, Deap Vally, The Mars Volta) and mastered by Joe LaPorta of Sterling Sound in New York, Are You Life is a stunning work of dense arrangements, layered distortion and striking vocal melodies.

The sonically adventurous lead single, Go Quietly (co-written with Scott Bromiley of The John Steel Singers), has garnered triple j and community radio rotation nationally. The track has also received positive attention overseas, with a top review from the chief editor of New York City blog RCRD LBL. It peaked at #12 on We Are Hunted's emerging chart and #3 on Indie Shuffle.

Consistently in demand, Little Scout has supported the likes of Sharon Van Etten (USA), School of Seven Bells (USA), The New Pornographers (CAN), Camera Obscura (UK) and Sally Seltmann.

2011 record Take Your Light was recorded with Sydney wunderkind Jonathan Boulet in his garage in Sydney. Produced by Scott Bromiley, the record enjoyed consistently positive reviews.

First single We Are Walking Out received play on community radio and triple j, received over 70,000 video plays on Vimeo, and prompted an east-coast tour with Sydney band Parades.

Prior to the release of Take Your Light, Little Scout released two independent EPs; The Dead Loss EP (2008) and Different in the Distance (2009). The band was named as one of triple j's -Next Crop' artists in late-2008, and made the state finals of MTV's Kickstart competition in the same year.

Little Scout are never content to sit still for too long. Singer and songwriter Melissa Tickle has performed on record and live with The John Steel Singers (Splendour in the Grass, The Falls Festival) and Hungry Kids of Hungary, and Kirsty Tickle with Skinny Jean and Sydney band Parades. Along with recording Are You Life,
drummer Miro Mackie has recorded and mixed songs for The John Steel Singers, Major Leagues and Go Violets and is developing an unhealthy obsession with vintage studio equipment.
