PINK RIBBON MAGAZINE LAUNCHES IN AUSTRALIA

PINK RIBBON magazine launched in Australia this month and is the only women's magazine created to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Published by the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) with support from Murdoch Magazines, PINK RIBBON magazine offers an original mix of breast cancer issues with fashion, beauty, health and travel.

Editor of PINK RIBBON magazine, Clare O'Reilly, believes it is a truly unique magazine.

"Whilst PINK RIBBON contains all the typical features of a women's glossy, it also has one important advantage - it could save lives. It contains vital information on medical research, breast health, treatments, diet and exercise, but it doesn't preach or alarm."

"There are amazing stories of women taking charge and participating in clinical trials, changing their way of life and using their experience with breast cancer in a positive way. It's a fun, inspiring read that takes an optimistic approach to breast cancer."

To celebrate the commemorative issue of PINK RIBBON, the annual glossy is being launched with two covers featuring Aussie female icons Sarah O'Hare and Nicole Kidman.

"We really felt both women deserved to be on the cover", says Sue Murray, General Manager for the NBCF. "Sarah as the patron of the NBCF and her tireless work for the cause, and Nicole with her mother Janelle, who is a survivor of breast cancer, to stress the point that while Nicole is famous, no one is above being touched by breast cancer."

"By offering two different covers, we are giving people the option to choose how they support PINK RIBBON - who knows maybe they'll like them equally and purchase both!"

Apart from Sarah O'Hare and Nicole Kidman, a host of other well-known faces have shown their support for PINK RIBBON by featuring in the magazine, including Naomi Watts, Keanu Reeves, Germaine Greer, Jodhi Packer, Georgie Parker, Jessica Rowe, Erica Baxter, Jimmy and Jane Barnes, Ros Kelly, Marcia and Deni Hines, Dr Katrina Warren and many others.

According to Sue Murray, the decision to produce PINK RIBBON magazine was conceived out of the need to find another way to raise awareness and funds for research into breast cancer.

"The NBCF relies on the community for the funds it awards to researchers across Australia. With many worthwhile causes competing for the charity dollar we needed a new and innovative way to capture public attention and to let people know the successes that have been achieved."

"PINK RIBBON magazine fulfils both these needs. It gives the foundation a new opportunity to raise funds for breast cancer research as well as a way to inform the community about progress with research and the benefits it offers to those affected by breast cancer."

The commemorative launch issue of PINK RIBBON magazine is available in newsagents nationally for $7.95. All profits from the magazine will raise money for the NBCF to fund vital research into breast cancer. So by buying PINK RIBBON magazine you will be making a positive contribution in the fight against breast cancer.
