Dr Girl/Dr Dejour Q&A

Dr Girl/Dr Dejour Q&A
Dear Dr Dejour,

Why do my breasts swell and get so sore and sensitive just before I get my period?

Signed Big-knockers.

Dear Big-boobs,

If someone knew the answer to this they would be rich! It is part of a normal cycle in which you have ovulated (a good sign in terms of ability to get pregnant) and is part of the complex hormonal environment that makes a woman the most wonderful and fascinating specimen she is. For those of us on the ground though it can be a nuisance and is part of the 'pre-menstrual syndrome'. A firm bra of the type that squashes bosoms flat is a good investment. Evening Primrose Oil taken every day (not just at the offending time) may help and is available without prescription from chemists and health food shops. The oral contraceptive pill will usually lessen symptoms, as you do not ovulate on this.

On the whole one must press on, armed with a phrase such as 'OUCH MY PRE-MENSTRUAL BREASTS', which will double as a warning for people to stay out of the way of not only your bosoms, but your whole self.

Regards,
Dr Dejour
