Synopsis: In winter 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Verdict: The future is no easier than the present. Political tensions with warrior alien species jeopardise The Federation with Star Fleet on the front lines in it all.

Original Star Trek fans will definitely be ahead of the pack in this movie. Crew, behaviour and technology received constant questioning from my lovely, yet slightly less geeky, partner throughout the movie but make no mistake the imminent danger of the situations faced by our courageous crew was not undermined by this at all.

As to be expected the movie keeps a 60's base theme while still seeming like a super advance spaceship traveling across the galaxy; with effective use of contrasting colour to drive home the quality of J.J. Abrams work.

Move over Kirk… Spock may only be the science officer but he runs this movie for sure!

Star Trek Into Darkness is accessible to a broader audience even someone who traditionally wouldn't even stomach the word sci-fi let alone a 90 minute movie dedicated to it.
