Twilight Bay Run

Twilight Bay Run

Queensland's largest running centre, intraining, is calling on people from all walks of life to get out their glow-in-the-dark running gear and sign up for one of Australia's largest night running events – Twilight Bay Run and help support vulnerable women over 55 in southeast Queensland.

Around 3000 runners, walkers and exercise enthusiasts will flock to Wynnum for intraining's Twilight Bay Run on Saturday, 22 September 2018, which hosts a half marathon, a 10K, 5K or 1K run, or a 5K walk for all ages and abilities, as well as entertainment and fireworks.

Participants are encouraged to raise funds for the event's charity partner, Mangrove Housing's 'The Forgotten Women' cause to help support one Australia's most vulnerable and fastest growing homeless demographic – women over 55 – with safe, secure and affordable housing in southeast Queensland.

intraining's CEO, podiatrist and running coach, Margot Manning, said Twilight Bay Run was changing the way people think about distance running.

"It's time to escape the heat, forget the sunscreen, and find your brightest outfit to light up the night sky this September," Margot said.

"Our Twilight events are all about the smiles on the faces of people around you, the buzz, the anticipation, the atmosphere…it's so uplifting. It's all about ensuring everyone–of all ages and abilities–can take part and experience the joy of running–or walking for that matter," Margot said.

"Whether you're an elite distance runner, or a beginner, it's all about getting active with the community under the stars, around Brisbane's sparkling bayside, while raising money to help support vulnerable women in Southeast Queensland."

As keen runners themselves, Margot and her husband, Steve, work tirelessly to create opportunities for people of all abilities to pursue their running goals and to establish and maintain a healthy balance of sport, health and work in their lifestyle.

The duo's commitment to their members and the running community ensures events like Twilight Bay Run continue to be much-anticipated and exciting events for all runners.

"The best part about the event is people connecting with friends and family and then seeing their smiling faces at the end. It's this happy community within running that makes the whole experience so inspiring for me as a runner and rewarding as a coach."

Mangrove Housing Director, Sandra Lupi said the charity is proud to be a part of such an exciting, inspiring and inclusive community event and encourages people to donate via www.TwilightBayRun.gofundraise.com.au

"We've been helping south east Queenslanders get access to affordable housing since 1993 – and we're delighted to be the charity partner, to help raise much needed funds to continue to support those who need it most. We can't wait to get out our glow sticks, don our fluro gear and take part in this amazing community event," Sandra said.

Participants in the half marathon receive a gift as well as medals and an accurate electronic finishing time after completing the course. They will also be in the running for monetary prizes of up to $15,000.

Adding to the fun of this family-friendly event are a fireworks display, zorb balling, and a new obstacle course for all ages to enjoy. There will be themed water station cheer squads to keep runners hydrated and motivated from start to finish.

The Twilight Bay Run kicks off at 4pm on Saturday 22 September from Bandstand Park, Lower Esplanade, Wynnum.

Grab your friends, don your brightest outfit, and join in the fun. Registration starts at just $20 for kids and $35 for adults and closes Thursday 20 September.
